My wife and I started out on a scheduled ride around NYC that wasn’t working out for various reasons. We peeled off and regrouped after 12 miles. Jumped in the car and drove north to pick up the South County Trail where we laid down another 25 round trip. Glorious day, finally answer a few weekends of rain.

Spring Scorcher
The Raleigh Grand Sports had not gotten enough ride time since mounting up the Veloflex Vlaanderen tubulars over the winter. Proved a comfortable ride and the added volume of the 27mm tires was so much better than the dried out 19mm tubulars. Only issue was that my bikes with chrome socks tend to need super tight skewers as they slip more than a painted or raw steel dropouts. I found the wheel cocked and started rubbing after a torquey climb.
Ventured through Amish farmland, passed the Velodrome and finished with a Pulled Pork BBQ Hot Dog from the food truck at Yergey's Brewery. Heat kicked up for the ride home and made for a bit of a slog, but expected.

Been putting some miles on this one to test out a new saddle and honor the pink jersey of the Giro. Might be hoping R takes it on his Bianchi!
ride report. Firm but total comfort means this Soffatti seems to disappear under me. I can move around easy on it but not slippery feeling at all. As my knee heals, longer rides will be possible. It plain gorgeous to look at too!

Slipping skewers -
have had a problem with the Campag NT rear doing this, suspect it is inadequate serrations in that case.
cannot see your rear one well eno' to ID, despite enlarging.
spanner twistin' tip -
Maeda recommends in the mounting instructions for the cycle's rear mech to adjust the angle screw such that parallelogram is parallel to chainstay.

Pushing a 13-32 might be more than this VX wanted, but the performance seems good and it now holds the 24t that I had skipping issues before, perhaps more chain wrap. That said, this bike might be getting fitted with modern shift gear to get my wife started in a "vintage" bike as we explore travel bike options for her.

Yes, the South/North trails are great, my wife particularly appreciates not having to interact with cars. On my own I'm happy to ride from Manhattan north or vice versa. But however you slice it, it's great riding.

Hit a rail trail for a vintage ride with my wife and daughter over the weekend. I rode the Motobecane Grand Jubile. My daughter rode the Austro-Daimler. My wife rode the Trek 520.

45 miles Tuesday afternoon/evening with the local road club's B-group. First time in more than a year, since injuries from being hit by a car last May, then thyroid cancer; and first time ever I've been able to hang on without getting dropped. Took the '93 Trek 5900 but I think I could have done as well with the '89 Ironman since it's a flat route. Beautiful weather too.

Those quiet roads a bit west of Tigard/Sherwood/Newberg (that I remember from 10years ago) are no longer quiet on a Wednesday so, .... long story made short is I drove the van further for a quiet road. SUCCESS. Gaston to Cherry Grove, right on Lee for 2.5 mi gravel up to Hagg Lake. Return to start on pavement or re-trace the gravel you just did.
Quiet valley road to Cherry Grove.

33 miles today on a club ride from Ventura to Santa Paula, CA, up and back two canyons along the way. I was on my '73 Super Course, the only vintage bike on the ride. Strange thing is, I had 3 personal records on Strava on the old steel. I often ride this exact course on modern carbon bikes too, and personal bests show that old steel isn't dead just yet. Anybody else have this happen?

I rode the Stone Mountain Trail to (duh) Stone Mountain GA. I'm not sure if it was closed or not but none of the rides were running and most were being worked on. I felt like a Griswald at Wally World. The "trail" is poorly marked and poorly maintained and definitely not something you would want to try on a nice road bike, (it's a real rim bender) but it was perfect for my Bianchi Urban Assault Vehicle.

It's been monsoon season on the midwest so I've been riding my 1982 Trek 720 a fair bit as it has fenders. I like the bike a lot and rode a 1983 Trek 720 across the country (Seattle to Boston) in '97. It is a long wheelbase bike. It is comfortable as heck for a long day in the saddle but it is not the most nimble bike I've ever ridden. It rides very, well once you load it down which is what it was designed to do.
I took it on a 32 mile ride the other day that has a fair number of rollers so it's a fun ride:

Race weekend in concord nc
This weekend is the NASCAR Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (which is actually in Concord NC). It's race-theme everywhere near my area. It's getting up to 94 degrees today, so went out early. Took the '85 Cannondale today.

First time out on my Frejus Tour de France, an easy shakedown ride up the North Shore a bit. Probably the first time the bike has been ridden in 20-30 years.
