1989 Bridgestone MB-1 Comp find - Koski vs Ritchey forks?
Hello! I purchased a 1989 Bridgestone MB-1 Comp today! It is in pretty good shape with a lot of original components. It has some scratches and surfacial rust, but nothing major (battle scars proving it was ridden and enjoyed!). I am hoping to do a complete overhaul and restoration on it, getting it back to original stock as possible. It has an aftermarket fork, stem, and brakes (levers and cantilevers). I have found used stems and brakes online, but can’t track down a Tange Koski fork anywhere! I did happen to find a Ritchey Logic fork, which is stock for the 1990 MB-1, is it worth it to paint and use the Ritchey? Or should I hold out for a Koski? I appreciate your advice! Thanks!
I wish I could upload photos but I don’t have ten posts yet...

If you want it as original as possible, then the Koski makes sense.
if you want to restore the bike now and also have an excellent fork, the Ritchey is appare you there for then taking.
Assuming geometry is the same, I would get a Ritchey Logic fork as its period correct enough for me and is also a really nice fork. But i also dont restore to as close as originally possible, so take that for what it's worth.

Thanks for the advise! The seller also said that he is going to ask his father (the original owner in another state) if he still has the original parts. I said I would be happy to buy them and pay for shipping if he still has them. But considering the mods were made almost 30 years ago, I won’t be holding my breath. If that doesn’t work out, I will probably just get the Ritchey as a placeholder until I can track down a Koski I only have three more posts until I can upload pics!

I'd get the Ritchey as a place holder as mentioned. Might be the permanent forks though with how rare the ones you're looking for have to be these days. Those were great bikes, wish I had one today.

What aftermarket parts were put on? Just out of curiosity.
Also, 9 more posts and you can post pics of the bike
My '92 MB-2 is one of my favorite rides. Has the original Ritchey Logic fork. Decidedly non-stock except for the headset (Deore DX) and stem (Ritchey steel quill).

Like the others I'd get the ritchey fork since you may not have luck finding the right fork.
Love my '93 MB-1. I was lucky. She was a garage queen.

I had the frame and fork for my 1989 MB-1 but the rest was missing. In the end I got tired of searching for the correct parts and just wanted to get it on (or actually off) the road. Got a 1994 group together from a donor bike and now the bike and I live happily together. I would suggest getting the the bike ready for use while continuing to look for a Koski fork. If not finding one you will have had a nice time using the bike. Looking/waiting for a fork that might not turn up does not make sence.

Thanks for the help everyone! I think I will get the Ritchey forks for now. I got the bike for $50 on Facebook marketplace, the replacement forks are more than the bike! The seller is also going to try to ask his father if he has the original parts. The mods were made almost 30 years ago, so fingers crossed! The seller also knew the value of the bike, but was looking to pass it on to someone who wanted to restore and ride it, which I can’t wait to do!
As you can see in the pictures, the replacement parts as follows: a no-name headset, the brake system was replaced by an Avid system, and the fork was replaced by a Marzocchi Bomber suspension fork.
