Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Vintage/Retro Looking Road Shoes

Saw some vintage looking cycling shoes in the "recent purchase" thread(link below) was wondering if any other companies make some vintage looking shoes, but with a smaller price tag than the ones attached.

Of the 4 or 5 that I've seen, they've all carried a fairly high price tag.

What are the other 4 or 5? I'm interested too, and I don't mind the price tag so much.

Vittoria (not the tires) makes a vintage throwback shoe that's pretty cool. Check out the line here: https://www.vittoria-shoes.com/eng/pr...hp?cat=VINTAGE.

What I really want to see is a re issue of some of Sidi's more radical late 80s shoes!

I would also lump the Giro Empire in the retro-themed shoes... well, not in the silver/neon green color scheme. The Rapha Grand Tours. Marresi Eroica.

Bike Hugger showed a retro SPD Giro shoe in his blog.

And he linked to the Empire road shoe: (like WhyFi mentioned above)

It's interesting that there's all these new lace up shoes.

They're very nice but the ones I tried on were a bit narrow for my D foot.
