Posting again with some significant updates to the Bianchi Veloce (first shown in post #4915). Went Italian with the switch from Ultegra to Campagnolo Potenza. Went threadless and carbon with the Nashbar carbon fork...
I've done a few rides, and overall, am happy with the changes. Very positive and tactile shifting performance, stiff responsive feel through the crankset, nice feel and modulation with the brakes, and I love the modern look (with the exception of the plastic bits on the rear derailleur). Also opted for Potenza to get the wide gear range, adding both more top and low end with 52-36 up front and 11-32 out back. Fork does lighten and quicken up the front, although with a bit of added road buzz. I know it's somewhat sacrilegious to replace the steel, but I never liked the original welded fork (curious choice by Bianchi to spec it with a lugged frame). Like most of the bikes on this thread, I love the contrast of the vintage frame with the modern components.

Nice @geluzj but I got to say if I was looking at Campy group for that, would have been hard not to go for 'Veloce'

G.D. That Bianchi is a tough act to follow.
Ah well, better just buck up.
Here's my 87 Atala as a 1x10. Original group was Campy Victory. Front mech stripped down to the 42T. Rear mech/cassette swapped out to Shimano's SLX 11-32 and made to work with Gevenalle GX1 shifter/brake levers.

MX Leader 6800 build teaser. Borrowing a 27.0 Ritchey seatpost, but have a Thomson Elite coming in the mail. Next I will decide between the current (vintage-ish) Selle Italia Flite or a Brooks Cambium C13. Build specs @ Pedalroom.

Hi, newbie here. I've really enjoyed looking through these bikes.
This is my Holdsworth Criterium, originally bought in 1994 and been waiting in the garage for a refurbishment for a few years. I resprayed it with spray.bike paint and was really impressed with how easy it was to get a good finish. Finished it off with replacement 531 decals from Reynolds.
Groupset is Ultegra 6700
Thomson stem and seatpost
Zip service course bars
Hope rs mono hubs with open pro rims
Toupe saddle

Finally finished my second Trek 1200. Yes, the pic is disgraceful.
Tiagra 4700 components, 105 hubs, Alex rims. I was basically looking for a more utilitarian build that wouldn't break the bank. The Tiagra stuff is really pretty nice.

It has been discussed to death in these parts, but I'm curious how easily that 130mm hub fit back there. I have an 1100 I might consider upgrading way down the line. Consensus seems to be it's no biggie.

In reality, it slides in easily with some care pressure from your thumbs on the dropouts and I feel fine about it.

I think those new STI are looking really bad on old bikes because they're nice and sleek and those new sti's are very heavy looking, not to mention it' pretty expensive to replace old 7 gears into 10 or 11 seems bit pointless and who needs so many gears anyway.

I asked about on here since I'd always seen pretty mixed opinions. What I got was still mixed opinions, but a few that have done it for the last 20 years without a problem.

Forgive me if I've posted this bike in this thread already. Short term memory and all that.
This is my ~1994 Lemond Ti bike which I built with mostly new Campagnolo Veloce stuff. The drivetrain is 2x10. The crankset is a 9-speed Record, and the hubs might be also.
The single-pivot brakes are from around 1989, before the frame was made.
Rims are new Pacenti rims, giving a vintage-y look.
