Which out of these three should I get?

Out of all 3 of those? I would go with these.

Did you notice that all 3 were multi-function? I own the PD-A530, it's basically the same pedal with a flat platform side. The reason I want a cage style pedal is to put a strap on one side when I'm riding in the city. I think sliding your foot out is easier if you have to stop suddenly vs clipping off. However I would still like the option to clip on when I'm on the road, and removing the pedals too often is not good.

I think that you have a lot to learn aside from learning how to unclip your foot and how to have bike control.

Unclipping is way easier and faster than pulling out of a cinched toe strap for me, but YMMV.

Watch out we have Mr. Knowitall over here. Opinions

I think clipping is better suited for road riding.

I think that you will find out what the opinions here are, and you will find out what kind of riding Scrodzilla does.

Clipping off is easy, not a biggy

Clipping in during traffic is so awkward and frustrate sometimes

There have been close calls. There was one time a car hit the back wheel coming out of a drive through, luckily nothing happened and there was no damage, at least not that I could tell. The guy even offered me money and I didn't take it. I think to myself what if I was clipped on? My straps are not super tight, but they hold my foot in place just fine when I hit pumps.

You need to learn how to ride your bike better. Stop hitting pumps.

I don't understand this at all. What is the situation where you have to unclip in an emergency? I also don't understand how anyone can think that reaching down with your hand to release a strap could ever be as fast as simply twisting your ankle. When OP is using clips, does he have straps at all? Are they cinched? I can see wanting to have dual purpose pedals if you ride with street shoes frequently but the stopping argument makes no sense to me.

I hope it’s not gas pumps. That sounds really painful.

Clipped on one side, straps on the other, for when you can't decide what kind of foot retention you want. Can only imagine riding clipped in with the straps dangling like that. And yes, I have done bike delivery before, in the city, riding clipless only. It has been done before, and will continue to be done.

Yeah this was my first immediate thought, too. If you’re riding clipped and you happen to come too close to a branch or something in the road or if you’re going through a small ditch those straps are going to get hung up on something you’re going ass over teakettle.

You seem to think being clipped in is more trouble so just make life simple and get a set of pedals that you can put your straps on.

For what it’s worth, I find it’s quicker, for me, to pull my foot quickly out of my toe cages, than it is to unclick my spds. But the difference is negligible. But I could also see how just having those big straps tightened down could be harder to pull out of than toe cages because of how they grab you. But I’m not your typical SSFG rider either, so...

If you're such an experienced rider and know so much yourself, why can't you decide which pedals to buy on your own?

*Bumps* or potholes are sometimes unavoidable, specially when riding at night.

I was a happy man when i put on a set of spd's to my fixed gear. For me, i felt i had way more control and felt more connected to the fixed gear bike i had at the time. The issue i see with flat pedals and even caged pedals is that you don't have full control of the up stroke on the pedal when riding. Having clip in pedals significantly increases that control of the up stroke and makes for a much better experience in the riding sense -- Your legs largely control a FG bike after all.

The fear of unclipping is no different on a road bike. My only grip is the annoyance of walking around in bike shoes when riding around town running errands etc but I got over it.

If you're asking this question then I would assume you haven't ridden in busy traffic. There's constant stopping, sometimes it's very sudden. Start ups are awkward, people get the impression that something is wrong with your feet, and they expect you to gtfo of the way quickly. Also, it's way more common that people fall over with clips. Go look for a video of someone falling over with straps.

I have cheap straps:

https://img3.banggood.com/thumb/view...535%20(39).jpg

They're not super tight, and slipping out feels very natural versus twisting your ankle all of a sudden. Again, nothing against clipping, I just feel it's better suited for road riding.

Straps can easily be removed. I never said it can't be done.

I never claimed to know anything, unlike someone. I just wanted to know what the opinion of the community was. I thought this was a place to do that kind of thing.
