Addiction LXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know that wasn't your intent, Jen, and I recognized immediately that it was just an outburst of anguish and emotion. We ALL feel those same emotions because we know that these deaths are so unnecessary and preventable. I was just concerned that some OTHER individuals might grab that M baton and start to run with it, down the A&S rabbit hole, in a thread paying respects to a beloved figure.

Fortunately it hasn't gone there so far, and so now that we have addressed it maybe you wouldn't mind if I changed the M word to something else?

It’s an option. But I do advise to both enjoy today AND be prepared for tomorrow.

I was still smoking at 40, but not that much.

I wasn't overweight, and was dating a 26 year old.

Those were the days.

40 for me was peak career push and peak child care. I remember enjoying both of those things and I can piece it together from the papers published and the family pictures, but it really is a blur.

No clue. Haven’t had anything traumatic happen in recent memory. Started having shoulder pain in March and attributed it to the working from home adjustment. It got bad enough last week that I went to the ER and they did an MRI.

The pain comes and goes but I meet with an orthopedic next week to find out what the long-term deal is. In the mean time I bought one of those hanging upside down tables which actually helps a bit.

For me, 40 was 2016. Other than my daughter being born and my boy learning how to ride a bike, I wasn't too fond of that year.

I retired from racing as a Cat 2 when I turned 40 and never looked back. I kept my license until age 45 but never used it after the season I turned 40. That's also when I quit shaving my legs.
