Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

what wheels do I have**********

I recently bought an overstocked 2003 trek 5200. Before I rode it out the store, I changed the race lites to what I thought were race x lite aero's. After a few weeks I put on a new seat and post and went to the bike shop to weigh it and it said 19.5. Someone said "man that's kind of heavy for a postal". He had one two years older that weighed 18 stock. Then the owner said that they were select aero's and not race lite aero's and that's why the bike was hevier. I'll provide two links, one to the race x lite aeros and one to the select aero's. They look like the same wheel to me, but I cant find any information about them. How can I tell them apart?

https://www.bontrager.com/roadwheels/...p?id=119&pt=10 race x lite aero

https://www2.trekbikes.com/Bikes/Road...ox_7/index.php select aero

If you look at equinox 7, 9, and 11 they all have aero wheels select, race, and race x lites, but they all look exactly the same.

If anybody has insight I would appreciate it.

the x-lite aero that you thought you were getting weigh about the same as the stock race lites that you were replacing. So a swap like that won't make the bike any lighter or hearvier.

I've never heard of the select aero before.

Thats what I gathered by the weights on the bontrager website, unfortutately I didn't weigh the bike before I swapped the wheels
