At first glance, this looks like the kind of thing I'm looking for. Psychology, finance, history, politics, legal, culture. etc. Sorry LAJ , not NASCAR.
There was one other good podcast that I'd listened to as the same time, but I don't recall the name at the moment. I'll have to see if I can dig it up.

@WhyFi and Bah Humbug Need a nice reasonably priced knife for the missus. You know, good bang for the buck thing. One of those with dimples along the blade edge . . . is that to keep stuff from sticking to the knife? Talk to me.

About all you can trust is mileage and time. Elevation is overstated on strava as well. I would trust Garmin for Elevation.

If I froze to death I guess that would take care of the healthcare costs.
Even if I could figure out the drug formulary list, I don't know what drug I might end up taking next year, I just know it will be expensive.
Sigh.

First thought would be a Santoku from Wusthof, Zwilling or MAC - full tang, riveted handles should run in the ~$100 region. They work well if you keep them sharp and you don't need to be too careful with them (but, for the love of god, don't put them in the dishwasher). The one drawback could be size - blades are usually in the 6.5-7" region - which might be small if she's cutting large quantities or large items.

Lol. That's hilariously wrong. Some of the best sprinters in the world can only hold 1200w for 15-20 sec (granted, this is at the end of a multi-hour long race, but still). Assuming that his position isn't too far out of whack, that it wasn't unusually windy, that his tires were of decent quality, etc, etc, it's probably overestimating by more than 1,000w.

What kind of stuff is she cutting and in what kinds of quantities? Yes, the dimpling is ostensibly to keep stuff from sticking, but I don't know how effective it is and it would really depend on what kind of stuff you're cutting, anyway.

Thanks! Kind of late to order stuff but maybe I can get out to Bed, Bath & Beyond today before the storm.

I'd used German knives prior to the Mac. Japanese knifes tend to use much harder steel that keeps its edge very well, but are more susceptible to chipping, so care is key. Use a softer steel German knife for cutting stuff with fibre or hard bits or where twisting (de-boning) is needed. They also have a different blade edge angle which is important to know if you sharpen yourself. There are certainly higher end and much more pricey ones, but the Mac seems to balance the quality/cost ratio perfectly. The have a 10" chef knife as well if you want longer. My other Mac is an 8" Santoku. I freaking love the Mac knives, they make me want to cook.
