My Garmin 510 stopped working.

I love my Garmin 510 bike computer and paid big bucks for it. When I went out the other day it would not go to the ride page. I went on the Garmin web page and discovered that it needed to be updated. It took me hours to figure out how to do this. I am 74 and not too computer savvy. I had to get on special websites and completely download a new program into it. The memory was full so I had to delete everything first. Now it works fine. I do not like using my brain these days but sometimes I cannot avoid it.

So is there a problem currently? Your title say there is, but then after your diatribe you quietly mention "it works fine".

The Edge 510 is a pretty old device now. So if you paid big bucks for a used outdated piece of technology, then that's on you. Though my 12 year old Edge 500 still works for me with no issues.

It's been on the market 8 years, but the OP doesn't say how long they've had theirs. Maybe a year, maybe 7. The 520 came out 2 years after at a similar price point, so I hope he didn't spend too much, too recently.
