Lmao at those names, but back to business. Got frame sanded down pretty good.
Gotta love that 70s steel!
Pretty straight for a 49 year old bike
Kept the green and red over spray just for a reminder about her past colors. Won't see once attached to frame anyways.
Serial # February 1970

You know you are a certified gearhead if you get this in the mail and get genuinely excited lmao

So my daughter decided on a light violet purple. Got the paint laid down on the forks to see how this will look.
Photo is making color look lighter than really is.
This is the color daughter decided on instead of the dark purple.

Here's a Schwinn Bantam that I swapped modern 20" aluminum wheel set onto. Wheels with tires were found on the curb. The Bantam was also found in the trash, and I believe the riser bars are not original. It also was missing the original kiddie size saddle, so I installed the adult size Schwinn saddle I had in my parts bin. Ended up selling it for $50. (my cost was 0) Buyer got a good deal for sure.

Hmmm I wonder if a bar can be made like that for a lil Chik???? Been busy on my many motorized projects but got few light coats of base down. A few rough spots needs to be resanded before more paint.
Base coat, not nearly finished

Definitely going to look at that bar! Finally located a parts bike. Going to use wheels and crank. Now to strip and paint those parts. On the search for fenders, headset and chainguard. Do schwinn stingray tires fit regular bmx wheels?
Parts bike, looks like a lil chik frame clone(garbage)was quickly stripped to parts. Funny how you can take a bike down to parts in a matter of minutes.

Been busy but got the paint done and got the bmx crank on. Next I need to open up the front fork a little bit to allow for the newer bmx wheels.
Ready to be fitted with modern 24 tpi crank
Bearing cups in
Now I can fit any modern 1 peice crank
As she sits now.

I eventually will change to schwinn correct pedals and sprocket, but as of now this will be daughters first bike with no training wheels so I'm sure it's gonna get a little banged up at first. Once she masters the bike il be swapping to era correct schwinn parts.
