My neglected Peugeot
Finally pulled my old Peugeot out from the back yard. Long story short about 2 years ago I relocated and the Peugeot that's been stored inside is whole life got thrown in the back yard temporarily because my new home had no room for a bike inside and I had no shed to store it. Next thing I know 2 years pass and now my daughter is into bicycles which reignited my bicycle passion and here I am now wanting to renew this old bike again. Bicycle was actually mint with little to no rust. My grandpa bought it new back in the 80s. He doesn't remember exactly when but he used it to commute back and forth to work. This is one of those things that I will never part with. Will pass it on to my daughter when the time comes. Anyone have any idea what year this bicycle is? My plans for it are change pedals (don't like the single sided clip pedal) new bar wrap and new plastic that goes around the brake levers (what is this part called so I can start looking for replacement?) remove as much of the rust as I can and then just ride and preserve her( inside of course now). Actually was very sad seeing this old bike like this. She's always been very shiny rust free beauty. Aired up the tires and went on a little night ride. I forgot how stiff the ride is, used to my sears bike now lol. Brakes still work good and I forgot that the shifters were indexed (again used to my non indexed sears bike) gears were popping a little, will have to adjust. Still rides awesome even after 2 years outdoors. Can't wait to get her looking nice again! I know this bicycle may not be worth much or top of the line but it has HUGE sentimental value.
