Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wanted Broken Cervelo S3, S2, SLC-SL, Carbon Soloist, etc

I broke my 2009 Cervelo S3's front derailleur hanger. Does anyone have a broken bike they are willing to part with or sell for the part?

It looks like it should have non-round shaped tubes (TT bike), so not so easy.

Have you tried contacting Cervelo? Perhaps they would have them in stock. If there is a problem, it is possible they've beefed up the design over the years.

Do you have both pieces? One could probably match the design with aluminum, or even steel, if only my fabrication capabilities were slightly more advanced.

My LBS can do the service I just need the part. I called Cervelo and they don't have them anymore. I'll order one from excel and see if it will work but mine is a 2009 with 3 holes and those look like 4.

Anyone else know of someone who may have a cracked or broken cervelo?

How did you break it?

I was the owner of a 2011 S2.

The bottom of the three rivets that holds the front derailleur mount to the seat tube popped loose during a double century.

The shop where I bought the bike (Davis Wheelworks) was no longer a Cervelo dealer so I emailed Cervelo directly.

They had several options.

The option I chose was a 2013 S2, which had identical geometry to the 2011, just different paint.

They sent it to a nearby shop where I knew the owner. No charge.

Now I am the owner of a 2013 S2.

Only issue I have with that bike is the narrow tire clearance. Everything else is flawless. Beautiful and quiet threaded BB, most of all.
