New Bike

hi,

now with a little more than a year riding road bike i'm thinking about getting a new bike for 2016, want an aero bike now, was wondering what you guys think is the fasttest bike. I currently have a Cannondale Evo super six, love my bike but I want something aero and a little bit faster or a bike that mantain its speed better.

Thanks in advance!

Oh man, this is not going to end well.

For what it's worth, if you really want aero, the new Trek Madone looks pretty good. And there is always the Specialized Venge. And lots of fans of the Giant Propel Advanced. Go hit up a shop for a test ride and decide for yourself if it's worth it.

EDIT: I like the Madone the best, but that's because I'm biased for Trek and against Specialized, so my opinion doesn't mean much.

Like them both but the Venge a little more also was looking at some European bikes like the Ridley Noah or maybe a Wilier Cento1 Air or the Pinarello F8

The thing there are too many bikes and I know All of them are fast and are Top End bikes dont really know what to look at the time to make the desition.

If I were to ever buy another carbon bike, it would be the Fuji Transonic. Especially since it has direct mount brakes and can fit 28's. I would get this one in particular and put some nice wheels on it.

That Argon18 is a really nice looking bike.

Personally i would wait for disc brake aero bikes or buy something like BH G7 disc which is a new aero bike.

I hope you already have an aero helmet and skinsuit, those will have a far bigger impact than an aero frame.

Not sure where you are located but Canyon AEROAD CF SLX 6.0 would be my choice. When ever they start shipping to the US I will buy

If you can't go fast on a 14lb evo then you should invest in a coach instead of another bike

But here's some "science" for you and your "far bigger impact" claim

I'm pretty new here, but let me be the first in this thread to suggest that you might want to start with improving the "engine".

Sorry. I've got nothing useful to add.

Barndoorcycling, not sure I've heard of that journal before. Is it peer reviewed?

Since those links agree with what I said, I am not sure what is the point you're trying to make. Thanks I guess?

Got the "Gots to have its?" I'm guessing that money is no object? I wouldn't buy a bike because so and so had recommended it. I'd go to the best bike shop in town and look at what they have to offer. You'll want someone behind this transaction that can help keep this new and fabulous bike on the road.

The "links" did not agree with your claim. And since you have no intention of addressing the subject of the thread you need to leave. You're annoying.

Article 1:

the difference between a regular road bike and a “Aero Road Bike” is 6 watts
Article 2:

Your bike accounts for around 20 percent of the aerodynamic drag that you encounter, the rest is down to your shape and your frontal area
An aero helmet can be a cost-effective upgrade compared to, say, an aero-tubed frame.
Helmet: Kask Bambino

Saving (head up/head down), in watts, compared to Giro Aeon: 32/32
Just so we are clear, 32 is 5.3 times larger than six.

If you find me annoying, why do you address me then? You could have ignored my post just as you ignore the 'improve the engine' ones, or like I choose to not reply to most of your posts, unless addressed specifically at me, of course.

That "far bigger impact" you speak of would probably make you .000002mph faster.

Because I don't like you. Now if you have anything to say in regards to the OP's question, then we're all ears.

So? Point is that according to the articles you provided (thanks for doing the legwork for me) using an aero helmet saves you five times more watts than an aero frame does (we're not even including the skinsuit here), hence the 'far bigger impact.' Now, if you disagree that five times larger means 'far bigger' then fair enough, I will gladly change my statement to 'an aero helmet and skinsuit will have an impact over five times larger than an aero frame.' Do you find that satisfactory?

Buy an aero bike for looks unless you race and you're chasing small gains. Which means get a helmet and skin suit first = cheaper and more effective than a aero bike.

I would agree with that, although I find his current bike far sexier than aero bikes.

And since you don't average 30mph nor ride in a TT position the entire time, which you failed to take into account, the actual difference wouldn't even be measurable to you. Hence, there is not a "far bigger impact".

If someone starts a thread asking about lightweight saddles, are you going to pop in out of the blue with "I hope you got a light wheelset, that has a far bigger impact"? Does that sound silly? Yes it does. Damn, dude, recommend a bike to the guy or leave.

I once asked this old, wizened, and wiseguy Japanese mechanic how to make my bike faster, he said, "Pedal harder...".

You've only been riding for a year? Save your money and pedal harder.
