Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Then again, I need the stupid mistakes thread, I tried to get into the IABs the other day with flat tops and sweaty arms, it's a wonder I didn't crash.
You've gotta try 3T Aeronova. Or if the price of entry is too high, Toseek do a copy for pocket change.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've had 3T bars in the past and liked them. I have the Enve SES bars on this bike, and had to bleed the brakes to install them. I like them fine, just not for IAB.

Dunno what it is about 3T but their stuff is just so sexy.

Those curves...

The long reach on those doesn't suit everyone.
Also not much wrist clearance when using the drops.
The flex definitely gives more front end compliance if that is what you want though.

I don't have that problem on my Toseek copies, but then I rotated mine forward a few degrees and cut off the 40mm of drop that pointed up.

As for flex - yeah, you want a stiff stem with these.

Supposedly the Colnago Concept is a stab at doing what you describe.. not cheap tho'. RA link used as a lot more info than I could seem to find on Colnago's own website.

For Argon.. 2.09 lbs vs. 1.79 lbs

Wrenchscience.com seems pretty decent in providing weights

I like the paint, except the white. And the lettering.

I guess a selling point of Colnago though.. it appears that there about 9 color schemes available if you want to build from a frameset (per wrenchscience).. Even the Di2 version preconfigured supposedly in 3 choices of color scheme.

Cool. Thanks. I was in All3Sports.com's retail store today and actually straddled an Argon 18 Gallium Pro with Dura Ace Di2.

Fairly crusty Panasonic Aero bike for sale in Bakersfield CL, $100. It's so old it doesn't even have cabling under the bottom bracket. Gotta be a very early 80's frame, components have obviously been upgraded. Not sure about the wheels, if original, probably not.

So when is the future coming? I recall them naming the Cannondale SuperSix Evo as an example, and I think a Scott and a Wilier as well (neither brand is carried by any shop I live close to, so I haven't investigated them very thoroughly).

I've checked out the SuperSix Evo specs, and have to say I'm skeptical of the value - the aero cockpit doesn't kick in until you get close to $7K, and at that price tag you still have to pay to activate the power meter (!), and the cassette is 105 (nothing wrong with 105, except the bike is billed as Ultegra Di2 and at that price point I'd expect a full groupset).

My local dealer carries Giant, so I've been checking out their 2020 offerings pretty closely. It looks like Giant has decided to sit out 2020 - no update on the TCR, which is getting a little long in the tooth at this point. The Defy got a more aero cockpit with the 2019 model, but when it comes to the racier lineup, Giant is still forcing us to choose between aero and weight.

I'm looking for a more aero bike, but my ideal is a more aero all-rounder/climbing bike rather than a full-on aero bike. Are there some other models out there to consider?
Have you actually had a close look at the Defy?
It basically has all the aero design features that the aero bikes have even though it isn't being promoted as such.
I don't know what the official frame weights are but I am sure there isn't much difference.
My Defy has a ready to ride weight of 8kg which is also what I weighed a TCR Advanced Pro1 disc as.
