Thats why I only use it in the wet PNW winter. Dry lube is molten speed wax

Define high mileage? I don't ride a ton but avg around 150 miles a week. You rotate chains and have multiple bikes to spread things out. I wax a big batch maybe every other month which is less time overall than i usually spent waxing with a drip

Have you tried the silca nfs formula? It's a bit lower friction and what I use on cx bike for wet races

No. Haven't had the opportunity because the bottle I have has lasted for so long. It's near it's end though. Had some bad weather during my two-week tour in Montana and Idaho back in June. I will look into it.

So like 250 miles a week? That's one chain/week so 4 chains and you only need to was once a month with 4 chains. If you have 2 bikes that could be spread out to 2 months easily

Applying Rock n Roll Red takes about 30 seconds, once a week.

seeing as how rock and roll is just a wax emulsion then a hot wax should last just as long in your application

The application process of RnRR is quick and easy, and like MHW there's no goopy buildup. It's the best of both worlds.

Wow, I guess I should have known I'd be opening up a can of worms.

Well baby steps for me. I found an LBS that carries the RnR Gold, so I'll pick one up for comparison's sake with Finish Line Wet. I rode quite a bit over the last two days, and will do more tonight and tomorrow night, so after my Friday night ride I'll break down the bike, clean it thoroughly, and put the RnR Gold and let it sit overnight. Saturday morning I'll see if I can perceive any difference.

As of the last 2 rides, I'm never using Finish Line Dry again. Looking forward to trying out RnR Gold!

I used R&R Gold for a couple of years with good success. But, I live in northern Utah which is a relatively dry climate (at least when I do the majority of my outside riding) and I prefer the R&R Absolute dry because it is cleaner. The Gold is a good all-purpose lube, recommended by the mfg. as a one size fits all for road and mountain bikes. Their website gives some good application advise that I follow.

1) Begin in the big ring x small cog and rigorously wipe down the chain with a soft cloth.
2) Apply lube liberally. I put a rag down underneath because I put enough on that it drips. I have rim brakes, and I hang the rag over the bottom of the rim as well to keep lube off of the brake track.
3) Slowly spin the chain for at least five seconds after applying lube.
4) Thoroughly wipe down the chain. Be aggressive!
5) Shift to the small ring and wipe down the big ring.
5) Let sit overnight for best results.

I buy the big bottle online for about $20 and it lasts me for a couple of years.

Thanks! I looked at online videos and write-ups and they mostly follow your directions so that's what I did. The only difference is I pre-cleaned with White Lightning Clean Streak Degreaser (I'm trying to run out the aerosol can) and let that totally dry (including air-time and wiping down the components) before applying the RnR Gold.

I applied liberally and pedaled for maybe ten seconds, and then aggressively wiped the chain and cassette and chainrings. Because I had used the White Lightning and gotten most of the crud off then, the second wipedown left a relatively clean rag.

I'm letting it sit while I go to work, and will see how it performs on this evening's (and this weekend's) rides. If I'm happy with it, I'll buy it in bulk as well, and also buy the Miracle Red in bulk for degreasing and cleaning. People seem to have great things to say about RnR products, both their chain lubes and the Miracle Red.
