Tire for a Trainer
I know it isn't time for a trainer yet, but I'm a fireman and work 24 hour shifts. I bought a Cycleops Turbo Jet Trainer for days that I'm at the staiton. What should I do about a training tire? And....was that trainer a good choice?!

I don't know anything about trainers, but maybe this thread can give you some answers.

I had a dedicated trainer tire at one point, the hard orange ones. Too hard to get on and off the rim. I have a whole bunch of old tires that are too worn down to ride on the road, but work fine as a trainer tire. You can't really hurt anything even if they wear down to the cords.

Do you plan to be riding the trainer exclusively for a while? If you'll still be doing some road riding during the week and you don't have a dedicated trainer wheel/cassette, I'd stick with a regular road tire. I spent a substantial amount of time only riding the trainer while recovering from a busted clavicle, and found that my Michelin Krylion Carbons held up surprisingly well to continued trainer duty.
