I got a Charge Combo lock cable. 0000 code does not work.
i got from dicks the "charge" branded combo lock cable, on the label it says 0000 default, factory lock to unlock but when i align, it simply will not unlock. what is teh trick?

Why not take it back and let them show you how to use it or exchange if defective?

Some wiseguy beat you to it and changed the combo at the store
Return it
Also, those locks are pretty weak. I would not use that on a nice bike or anything you leave outside a long time. Very easy and fast to break into it

It was behind the locked glass storage so unlikely unless store employees sabotage. I will use only for mount and secure during quick shopping at grocery. I live in bay area where thefts are rampant so i am not going to secure it at the balcomy. Yes, you are right, I already lost my bicycle last summer left on balcony using similar cable lock.

I wouldn't bother with a cable, a hand written sign that says "pretty please don't steal me" is way cheaper and the thief will probably pity you more. With a cable you are basically saying "please steal me but first a joke" especially in an urban area. If you want a lightweight lock that will give you a touch more protection go for the ABUS Bordo Lite, they make a combo version but the keyed version is more ideal especially if you have issues with opening combos.
