Yesterday was scary. Today, knowing there's no serious damage it's such a relief. Doctor did me a favor by making me sweat out a few hours thinking I'd broken some vertebrae.

River Ride Worlds. I had drifted to the back to take off my vest and was just about to move back up when there was a crash. Got minorly caught up in it, went into the dirt and did a slow speed endo. Think I bent my RD hanger. Otherwise, I was pleased with my fitness for this time of year.

Same ride as @caloso ... The Big Show River Ride World Championships. Those that know better seem to avoid it. Did some work early, then did some sitting in, then done blew myself up trying to bridge across a split through crosswinds to what appeared to be a really strong group. Connected and 'sploded. Got back to the group in time to be just behind a rager of a crash (RIP race bikes). Made it through unscathed and bridged back to lead group where a few of us lost the motivation and just soft pedaled to the "finish". In the end, a waste of a training day.

Yeah, I've had a couple OTB crashes where I landed on my lower back in the last couple of years. They weren't severe enough to send me to the hospital, but I was still off for a little while. Took a good month or so for the pain to go away entirely. Even minor back injuries are no joke, that stuff HURTS. So heal up Fudgy, hope you're feeling better quick.

Thursday a few hours zone 2, trying out the new wheels.
Friday a couple hours group ride, got a good workout considering the Friday ride isn't really a hammerfest. Group let me pull the 8 minutes at 350 watts (good for me) to the final sprint point. Picked it up before the sprint to lead it out, but no one wanted to sprint which was kind of annoying.
Team ride Yesterday, 0.88 IF for almost 3 hours.
Today went out for some threshold, but the muscles were pretty sore, so I guess I'm not ready for 4 days of hard work yet. Did 5' Z4 and a sprint and rode home within the hour. Rest tomorrow, debating a rest week.

2 hours today (40 minutes rollers, finished up on the trainer), 2 hours on the trainer yesterday. First 8 hour week since the middle of September.

Feels like my legs are finally coming back around, at least with endurance type efforts, which makes me happy because I was feeling pretty flat for a few weeks.

Hours hours hours. So many hours. If intervals harden the legs, base hardens the soul.

Was supposed to do a another century today, but woke up to rain and temps in the 40's so I decided to wait for later in the day. Forecast called for 0% chance of rain for at least 3 hours in the afternoon. Started pouring rain about ten minutes into the ride but managed to get in 90 minutes of tempo with 30 sec v02 max spin ups every 5 minutes before I called it a day. Was hoping to break 700 for the week but the weather woes wound up just short of 500.

2x30' at 90%. 30F when I left the house this morning. That's about as cold as it gets around here. Hands and feet were numb/painful for most of the ride. Tomorrow I'm wearing my skiing gloves and full booties.

When I ran into the side of a car in July (lower back took the brunt of it) I was so sore that I didn't even want to get on the bike for the first 5 days. I had no real pain post-crash until the adrenaline wore off. I was riding 7 days later and 100% within 2 weeks. Those muscle relaxers give me the worst cotton mouth.

Sorry about the crash Ygduf - hope you heal quickly.

I spent Thanksgiving in the SF bay area and had two great long rides:

4 1/2 hours on Thursday from near the Golden Gate, up over the Panoramic Hwy and down to the beach, and then up Hwy 1 on the coast to Olema and back. 3400kJ, 320TSS

3 hours on Sat from the Berkeley hills- out through Tilden Park and a couple laps around some reservoirs for 2350kJ and 215 TSS.

In total 605 TSS, my highest this winter, thanks to the great weather and roads in Norcal.
