Searching for chindogu indeed had me on the floor in stitches. 
I think the baby/dustmop is perhaps my favorite.

you might like @bike_crap on instagram. I hadn't seen the Suntour S-1 chainstay mounted derailleur and the 'criss cross' levers. he's collected many terrible answers to bicycle 'problems' that were already well solved.

Coming soon from the MTB fashion scene, super long platform pedals. Out goes clipless (sez its causing more of a risk hazard on crashing) and the new boasting is safer but mostly about efficiency and distribution of pressure.
Like disc brakes and tubeless tires, only a matter of time when these shin gashers will trickle down to road bikes. Surely look bloody safe to me ;")

As an ex BMX rat, I can ride flats plenty well, my favorite joke is to bunnyhop higher with work boots on my clipless pedals (not clipped in) than my buddys can with their flats and proper MTB shoes on, it gives them no room to throw the stupid argument at me about "uNsKilLeD rIdERs nEed cLIplEsS PedaLS tO kEEp thEiR FeET iN PlAcE!"

I nominate R.A.T. axles - give me a standard quick release anytime.
I recently was given a carbon-frame e-bike with R.A.T. axles. I was going to use it for touring - using a Tubus rack
with adapters for mounting the legs of the rack on the axle. Perfectly reasonable on a normal QR axle - but R.A.T.? no way.
Now I'm investigating if its possible to switch out the R.A.T. fittings and use standard QR skewers.

The newest victim is 27.5+ MTB tires. The same marketing departments that called 3 inch tires plush and forgiving in 2015 were backing down to 2.8's by 2017 and called them vague and wobbly starting in 2019 when the 2.5-2.6 tires came out, and now they're pretty much only on alternate builds of hard tail MTB's. 27.5x3 inch tires are going extinct and 2.8's will remain as service parts for a while. I think that satisfies the "it went too far" criteria from the OP.
