I run my own bike shop and volunteer at our local bike co-op... teaching people how to repair flats and change tires is the first thing we teach people as it is the most common service issue there is.

I consider this to be a pretty essential skill for any bike owner / rider.

Those tires were a pain to get mounted but they really did improve the ride and the road speed of the bike...when tires get old and stiff they don't ride as nicely as they should even though they may look fine otherwise.

The tires I used are just inexpensive City Cavaliers... they are a little heavy and a pain to mount but they do roll well and are resistant to flats... and they only cost $7.00 each.

The reviews on them are also quite favourable... they aren't Schwalbe Marathons but few tires are.

MEC also sells tires for less than almost anyone.

2009 Bianchi Verona with planet bike fenders, cateye head/taillight, recycled rubber seatpack, topeak rack and jellibell. Replacing the ergo grips with black cork soon, I think.

I had a simliar set up as seen in the pic,i told the dealer the handle bar was too low and my back was hurting from it,3 months went by and i removed the steererand i am still fine with the stock bar.There are 3 spacers total.

Yes I have - that's where it came from. But be warned people - most of what they sell is trash that falls apart in your hands. I've heard nothing but complaints from people about their utter lack of quality-control. I figured they couldn't louse-up a spacer. Time will tell...

Yeah, I'm short. I'm like 5'3 with a 27.5 inch inseam. I'm on my tippy toes when I'm on the seat and have very little clearance when I'm over the top tube. This is a 15.5 inch frame also. Should I lower the handlebars more to be even withe the seat height?

As a former hybrid rider (I now have a recumbent) I was curious to see what's out there in hybrids. Nice selection of bikes, with one thing in common; ALL of them appear to be immaculately maintained. As a firm believer in doing my own maintenance and that a clean and well maintained bike "just works better" I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not the only 'clean fanatic' out there.

Wow, ok, I'd think that you would need a slightly smaller frame if your seat is so low. You really shouldn't be able to put both feet on the ground when you're on the seat, but you should have a little clearance over the top tube. If you don't have that then you needed a smaller frame and your sales person dropped the ball.

For the best fit your seat needs to be high enough to give you a nearly full extension of your knees at the bottom of your pedal stroke. For your inseam, the distance from the top of your saddle to the top of the bottom (6:00 position) pedal should be in the 24.5-25.5 range to start then begin fine tuning up and down and fore and aft. Another benchmark is to put your heel on the pedal and and adjust the seat until you leg is fully extended.

Thanks for the advice. This is the smallest frame for this bike already. My leg extension is pretty much what you stated. I just measured my pedal at 6:00 to the top of the saddle is its at 26 inches. The bike feels pretty good right now and I feel like I'm pedaling efficiently.
