** Update ** Two Vintage bike rescues this week
So here are my finds this week. The red bike came from a thrift store, salvation army, in Anahiem CA. The yellow one caught my eye hanging in the window of a Mexican market where they had a few used bikes. My observation on the yellow one is that it is a very poorly converted fixie. The red one seems unmolested. I am not very familiar with these bikes. Can anyone chime in as to what I have here. Also, really weird that they are both the same brand.

One other thing... just because I got this from a thrift store does not mean I got it cheap. I feel like I got a good deal on it. Here is the salvation army listing for the bike. When it did not sell I went over there and got it. Thanks for the warm welcome.

You got two very different beasts here. One is a great Nice weather showstopper and the other is a beater that will be a great everyday rider. That red bike With full Chorus is in amazing condition ! How anyone can be stupid enough to ride brakeless With those pedals is far beyond my comprehension ! Have fun With the seatpost on the beater , it looks stuck ?

Nice finds, and welcome. Do they fit you? There both small for me (6' even), and if they're too small for you then maybe you can use them as trade bait to get an EM that fits.
I think it would be prohibitively expensive to bring the yellow one back to original components, assuming you can sort out what that was. Maybe just measure the rear dropouts and get a good looking, readily available group that fits, and allows you to ride hard and have fun.

Even if the seat tube and head tube look shorter than you're used to, measure the top tube. I don't know if it's the case with Eddy Merckx, but some brands (like LeMond) tend to build bikes with longer top tubes. If your bikes are built that way, they could fit even if you're used to a slightly taller frame.

those are great shifters.
I'm shifting a 2nd gen Chorus RD with C-record DT friction and 8-sp Record cassette (130mm axle).
It is the best shifting I've ever experienced, and I know at least one other person who goes out of his way to find this combo.

You did not see the bodega this bike was pulled out of. If you had, you would not be objecting to calling it a rescue. I also disagree that there was no drama. I was dodging homeless junkies in the alley where I parked, dealing with proprietors in a language I am only 18% fluent in and risking life and limb by just stopping there to get the bike. And... you have no idea what my purpose was/is for seeing a bike and rescuing it from its current situation. Therefore, I respectfully and completely reject your whole post and I will continue my quest to "rescue," liberate, salvage, release and unshackle the abused European race bikes of the world. Here is some advice for you... "Don't sweat the petty stuff" and consequently "Don't pet the sweaty stuff." (removing tongue from cheek now)
