Very nice build! How fast did you get that racer going so far?
It happened so quickly so I don't know. It hasn't happened since so I'm getting into the habit of turning off the controller when I'm walking the bike.

On the flats, Max PAS/Highest Gear/Some Effort, I got up to 30mph. Not sure if that's accurate, I'll bring along my GPS Bike Computer next time.

I just discovered something about my BBSHD... Pedal Assists activates when you back pedal.

Is this normal? If it is how do I stop it from happening? I've already had two mishaps with my bike lurching forward unexpectedly.

That's not normal on a BBS01/2. I've only test rode one BBSHD on a fat bike and never tried back pedaling it, but that shouldn't cause the power to engage.

Can you ride it under power and coast until the power cuts off, then back pedal and reproduce the power coming back on? If so, I'd call the seller ASAP.

I did more troubleshooting and figured out that I set the threshold for PAS activation aka "StartUp Degree" too low...

Everything is good now, no more "Ghost Riding".

It officially weighs... A LOT...

I don't have an official weight but I'd imagine it's up there with other e-bikes in it's power class.

Admittedly, I baby this bike and I have yet to crash it *knock on wood*. Before taking this pic I whipped it down with a damp rag.

Ditched the Tannus solid tires after 3 weeks and went back to Conti GatorSkins.

The Tannus tires were just dead on the road, rough on the body & bike.

Sorry xraytech - I don't have enough posts to use the "quote reply" function yet....

Is "2" the value you changed the Startup Degree to?
No more motor engaging if back pedaled?

Thanks

Bike looks really good, congratulations! However, I do often wonder what motivates people to electrify track bikes as opposed to MTB/XC ones. I mean, ebikes are all about comfort, but I doubt you get much comfort on tyres as thin as you've got. Then again, if you're riding on ideal roads all the time, it makes sense.

I'm curious how your road brakes handle all that weight and power. I had a BBS02 on a bike with v-brakes, which was ok. I'm thinking about doing another steel frame with BBSHD and road brakes with flatbar-style levers.

I'm heavy to begin with so the extra weight of the mid-drive and battery was a challeng for my calipers. I switched to CoolStops Salmon brake pads and tweaked the caliper travel to contact the rim later in the lever pull. The stopping power is now more confidence inspiring.
