Most comfortable seat?

Hello,

I have a vision R42 recumbent, it's mesh seat is in pretty poor condition. I've patched it in the longest tear, but I don't think it'll last much longer. In any case, I was wondering what others opinions are on the most comfortable seating. I've heard/seen (never tried) foam, I am familiar with mesh, are there other options?

I am considering buying some things online to make some modifications or just buy a new mesh seat, or who knows. The bike's butt is foam, the back is mesh, do people use things like some kinds of gel for the butt?

Thanks

You can get replacement seat meshes for your Vision seat from Hostel Shoppe: https://www.hostelshoppe.com/cgi-bin/...ory=1006385913
IIRC, they bought the Vision designs and spare parts before coming up with the Volae recumbents.

That being said, "most comfortable" really depends on the design of the bike and the design of the butt. Larger/speedier/more laid back riders tend to like hardshell seats, I think, but then I'm a larger, speedier rider.

I like my hardshell, but I suspect if I lived back in AZ, I would want a mesh seat to maximize airflow.

Like like mesh seats for all but the lowracer. The more upright the seating position the more I like mesh, the more reclined, the more I like hardshell.

I don't have them, but I've heard that Ventist pads really do a good job at getting air flow for hard seats.

I have a LWB bike with a really crappy mesh seat that I never found comfortable - I've never tried a good mesh seat. The hard seat on my Sofrider, however, I liked instantly.

The SlingMesh seat on my RANS V3 is wonderfully comfy.

That is interesting if nothing else, I think the more reclined the better.

Oh, this is a bit of a surprise. Someone sent me a PM on this subject, but it is impossible for me to respond via PM, it says I need a post count of 50 in order to send PMs.
