Looking for a cool-looking rear rack...
I have a Giant Simple 7 (2013)
which did not come with fenders or rack (the Simple 3 does). So I purchased fenders from Amazon and am now looking for a rack. The Simple 3's rack has some pretty cool looks to it, not like a standard straight-tubed rack
Apparently, you can't get this rack from Giant as an add-on accessory...only if you buy the bike.
The closest-looking rack I can find is from Nirve....not exactly the same, but close; tubing looks thinner (alloy...probably of steel)
Black Rear Bicycle Rack from Nirve - Big Time Cruisers
There's also one from Portland Design Works...but it's friggin $95...!!!

Anyone know of another rack like the one from Giant?

That's not enough rack in my mind. You've got to attach it at the seat tube, like a conventional rack, and then your choices ought to be endless (and quite retro).
Look at this similar rendering of some ideas I had for a Trek Pure S.

Blackburn makes racks similar to the black one in the picture. There are bunch of other brands also. When you search don't search "cruiser rack" but just bicycle rack. I used an old Schwinn 10 speed rack on my Huffy Cruiser and it was easily adapted. A Google or EBay search should find you many choices. Roger

I THINK the point was to find a really cool LOOKING rack, one that resembles those of a bygone day...you should be able to get it on there if you use the seat tube and whatever hardware you might have or can find.
It probably will not be rocket science. It would depend if you want an older style like nine hole, etc or maybe a Hawthorne/Flyer type flat triangular wedge...you could probably go nuts with it, just use your imagination and skills and find your budget.
Might as well learn modding sooner than later, and have a blast.

Rollfast the reason I said what I did is the rack in his picture on the Giant bike is very similar in style to a Blackburn. I didn't think he was looking for a Phantom style rack but something more usable. Roger

I used to own a Simple 7 and I seem to recall putting a Botranger rack on it, but I can't remember exactly what model it was.... the bike shop may have used some extra-long hardware.....
