Still felt wrecked Saturday after a rest day Friday, skipped a sprint workout for more recovery. Got 11 hours of sleep, 2 hours of JRA today where I finally felt normal. Hopefully it sticks this time. Would mean I can stop whining about downgrading and skipping workouts here. Too late for KSR, though. Build plan and fitness is completely shot for that race. I'm supposed to basically start tapering this week. Ugh. Month-long stage race taper FTW!

That's a tough stretch, good to hear it feels normal again.

Went out for the hammer ride on Saturday. Things got fast earlier than normal with many guys using it to ramp up for Masters Nationals.

On Sunday, I went out for what was supposed to be an easy-ish 2.5 to 3 hours. I went a little harder than planned, but I didn't think I was going that much harder. But when I got home and looked at my power file, Sunday's ride was actually harder than Saturday's.

My rest week last week was TSS 326 with 8:12 riding time. One of us is doing it wrong.

Can I still call it a rest day if I spent the day doing landscaping projects I've put off due to riding bikes? My legs say yes, but TrainingPeaks says no.

You don't? I put everything in there ... it's like my journal. Dear Mr Coggan, today I ...

Back to serious training discussions. Yesterday was supposed to be an off day, but I did a bunch of manual labor. It's gonna be tougher to hit target power today, but life is a struggle and I'll do what I can to push through it.

If it's fatiguing, I estimate a TSS and log it. So that includes landscaping/gardening, skiing, soccer, whatever. It might overestimate my fitness, but I'd rather do than than underestimate my fatigue.

I got my winter stuff down today. Again, for the third cycle of put away take back out. I have also put on and taken off shoe covers more this spring than all previous years combined.

Strava says the average temp of my 3 hour ride today was 84. It got toasty towards the end because I got a late start. It's that time of year here when I start memorizing the location of gas stations for water/ice...sorry Globe and mikey!

On occasion...when I would ride out to Bartlett Lake I would stop at the Dairy Queen in Cave Creek for a blizzard.

haha. Last week I was riding through cave creek and the DQ had "Stop in for a S'mores Blizzard" on it's sign. I was tempted. They have a new restaurant/store down at Bartlett Lake now, a coke and snickers on a hot day is the best thing for helping me get back out of there

47 and rainy all weekend -
so two hikes and rode up a local mtn pass that isn't opened to cars yet.
effencold and soaked by the constant wind/rain - road was sandy/wet from rain and meltoff of the big snow banks on the side of the road,

that said - riding w/ a teammate from 7 years ago in Seattle was great fun, good reminder that I'm better as the ride goes on sort of guy - won the summit sprint, track skills FTW.

I flogged myself and it was like, ridiculously windy. It was exactly the therapy session I needed. Now I press the reset button and get back to doing things properly.

We went to the Cape again for the weekend, my wife rented an Avail, and really enjoys the road bike over her old mountain bike. We rode 16 miles, although I never count family rides as it's so leisurely that it definitely doesn't feel like work, even whilst dragging a 40lbs kid. Unfortunately my wife is a bit sore now from being on a road bike saddle and really couldn't handle more than 2 miles today. Gotta hunt down a wider saddle for her and some good shorts

1 hour easy - but with high cadence. At or above 110 rpm the whole time, with some spikes.

13 TSS.

Tapering for stage race time. Felt weird to be off the bike yesterday and then just ride to work today. Then again, my legs hurt after this weekend.

Heh, stage race tapering for me, too. As mentioned upthread, it's annoying cause I've already missed a bunch but it's too late to build fitness. Another light day today, then some maintenance work tomorrow and thursday, sprints on Saturday, still less maintenance next week. On the plus side, I'll be super fresh for KSR. On the down side, probably also super slow.

My taper starts after Sunday I think. My CTL has dropped 10ish points as I've gone through some headcase life stressy crap so we're pumping it this week followed by pulling back the next.
