drove thru this after visiting Brother at Mount Sinai Heart. Saw one guy biking from the other direction. That’s a recipe for disaster. There’s room for a bike & then there isn’t

Yes. I know I've said this already but I have to repeat it because I feel like I just escaped death. I was taking one of those roads almost every day until about a week before the doctor at Mount Sinai got killed on this one. And now I know that if I had continued, I could have gotten killed similarly.

I ride with a rear-view mirror. Until I stopped riding these roads, my technique was to take the lane, making sure no one was close behind me. I would ride in the middle or left of the lane so no one was tempted to pass me. It worked. Drivers in New York encounter lots of cyclists and generally don't go ballistic when we are in front of them.
