Willits to Ft Bragg Gravel

Has anyone ridden Sherwood Rd from Willits to Ft Bragg? Some friends and I are looking at riding it in a few weeks, and we were hoping to get some insight. Biggest concerns are if it goes through any grow areas we should be aware of, and if the road is heavily used by logging trucks. The route below is what we're looking at. TIA!

One of the figure captions says
Turns into a muddy mess in the winter.
I did a (mostly) paved version of this a wee bit south (into Mendocino) years ago and it was a very tough ride.

I'm sure; there's some elevation there, and no shoulder to speak of. It looks like they're going in the spring, after it's dried up a bit, and before the summer heat kicks in, so that should help.

It looks like a great route and out of the burn area. I want to do it when it warms up a bit.
