Group rides around Sac?

Does anyone know of any groups/clubs that are currently doing rides in the Sac/Folsom area?

I would like to wet my feet on a group ride and develop some group riding skills, but everything I am looking up seems to be temporarily shut down due to COVID.

The Cycle Folsom group had a nice newbie friendly program but it’s on hold at the moment.

Know of anything?

Been a couple of months since the OP asked, but there are some clubs that have been doing group rides for a few weeks. If you still are looking check out:

TCC
Folsom Bike Club
Roseville Cyclery

Sacramento cycling

Hi. I noticed some replies referring out to the burbs of Placer County and also Folsom-- but both are actually pretty far from Sacramento.

I personnally would not drive that far to ride, when we have so many great bike lanes here in the city./county of Sacramento. Heck even the American River Parkway is close.

I live in the city of Sac in the Pocket neighborhood aka Greenhaven. I have seen a group of cyclists as recently as last week riding down Pocket Road. You may want to check on NextDoor and look for cycling activities near you..

I always see other cyclists riding out here. Once the work is done repairing the Levee you could surely access the bike path on the Levee at Garcia Bend park. It overlooks the river-- very scenic.

All the best.

The OP specifically mentioned "Sac/Folsom". Obviously he/she doesn't think Folsom is too far. I've never seen a post on Nextdoor for a group bike ride. I expect it would be very rare. Better to search Meetup which is where I pulled my links. I belong to two of the clubs.

OP: There is a Sacramento Cyclists facebook group you could join. Mostly people posting about individual rides right now, for obvious reasons. I have never seen any post on ND regarding group rides.

Frequent American River trail in Sac

Inclined to observe social distancing for time being but could get behind regularly scheduling to bomb down the river trails for a couple hours... usual path starts around Gristmill Recreational Area and cuts down to Watt or the next overpass depending on how much time I have :X

The local racing organization has been operating, though in a workaround mode. They were putting on mountain bike TT’s but a lot of them got pushed due to the smoke. Their firs cyclocross event this year is on Halloween in Folsom.
