Super short rivets for head badges
Hi all,
I am assuming a few of you have re-attached headbadges in the past. I bought a hand riveter for just this task with my Raleigh Competition that I restored (which turned out pretty nice, if I can pat myself on the back) but I cannot find rivets short enough so that the rivets as installed do not interfere with the steerer tube from the fork.
Where have you sourced rivets that work for this? I really want to get the headbadge back on (I just think it looks better) so any help is appreciated. Thanks

Velo Heaven in the UK sells them but they are Covid closed at the moment.

Pull the nail out and cut the rivet short, then put the nail back in. Does this work? No idea I just thought of it.

The few times I refitted head badges onto bikes, I cheated-- I glued them on and filled the holes with small nails cut to just below the head. You can't tell the difference!

I had bad luck with them btw. They didn’t want to penetrate; just dented the tube although I was careful to drill the pilot hole to spec. I wound up doing the glue/faux rivet method mentioned by others.
