All Mountain Bikes for less than $400?

I wanted to get a decent All Mountain Bike for about $400. Are there any places that sell this? I was recommended pinkbike.com
Any others?

Thanks

Check out Amazon, they have a huge selection of bikes and generally you can find them much cheaper than at walmart. Also, shipping for the lighter frames are usually free, so you don't have to worry about that.

With cautious and judicious shopping, you can find an all-mountain FRAME for that.... The whole bike, yeah right.

OP....save more pennies and get a new bike in the $700-$1000 range. That's the price point where quality and pride of ownership just shines. Anywhere below that and you'll be easily discouraged.

Careful buying from pinkbike. Those guys like to huck of 50-100 footers, from what I hear. Much more badass than any BF member, but the bikes take a beating.

My only bike is a 96 Rockhopper that I bought used from a local bike shop. I paid $120 for it and so far the only real repair it's needed so far was a new rear wheel after the freehub died, I bet you can find a similar deal in your city.
Also, craigslist is ok if you can do your homework and lurk by the hour. At the moment I'm looking for a cheap bike for my cousin (staying the summer) since I feel guilty hitting the trails without him and craigslist is definitely the place

The first of these isn't even an All Mountain. Are you sure that is what you really want and not just a trail or XC bike? If I was you I'd start by using wikipedia and google to do some basic research, and then hit the the different review sites.

None of the bikes that had pictures were. All Mountains are full suspension bikes. I think you're looking for an XC bike at most, and maybe even a hybrid... Go read wikipedia.

^Agreed. You have to do at LEAST the absolute most basic research about mountain biking before you can get advice on what bike to get. What you did is the equivalent of going on an automobile forum asking about a good off-roader, & then posting links to a bunch of 2wd Honda CRV's & Geo Trackers asking for opinions. Just because it's technically an SUV doesn't make it good for off-roading, & just because it's technically a mountain bike doesn't make it good for all-mountain.

^I have heard those Target bikes are decent for what they are (x-mart), but you could get a bike from a reputable name with an equal set of components for the same price. So why risk it with Target?
