Starbike Orders?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Starbike Orders?

Anyone have experience ordering from Starbike? I've been waiting for the release of the new Ultegra R8050 derailleurs and it appears they've been released overseas because Chainreaction, Wiggle, Evan's, Star, etc... show in stock status on them. I've done business with a few different overseas retailers without issue but never used Starbike and they have the best deal on them by far. I also tried to figure out how to get my 5% discount for being a weight weenie member but maybe they don't offer that anymore?

I guess no responses is a good indication of what to think about Starbike?

That's good to know, I'm on the fence on who to get them from. I can order them from Wiggle for guaranteed delivery on Friday or Starbike who's $100 cheaper but their estimated delivery time is anywhere from beginning of next week thru mid October.

I sold the groupset off of my main bike so I haven't been riding since the sale last week. I'm getting a bit impatient.

I buy from Ribble, Wiggle, Bike24, ChainReaction and Star. The difference is pretty much the shipping. Star will take off VAT so that is a 19% discount for USA. Others do too. Starbike uses DHL which is good, but is a postal service.
Anyway for $100, unless you must have it faster, I'd use Starbike.

Starbike is legit.

I haven't ordered from them, but I know it is a legit organization.

Starbike is legit. Super fast shipping. I believe they're the main sponsor (owner) for weightwenies forum

Well, I went ahead and ordered the derailleurs today from Starbike and already received an email saying they've been sent out. So far so good, they said average shipping time to USA is 10-12 days via DHL.

DHL for small parcel - like this is, will often hand off to USPS. Also customs can delay things a bit.

Larger items like wheels and frames are likely to come in a DHL truck.

Just a follow up on the thread, I received my derailleurs yesterday from Starbike. It took 11 days so their 10-12 day delivery was spot on. Started out DHL and the package was handed off to the USPS after customs. Everything looks good and the bike is getting the new parts swapped out as we speak.

I have purchased a few harder to get parts from them, without issue - apart from a fairly long delivery time. Although, that was Europe to Australia, so it may differ for you.

cheers

I bought my dynamo setup from them.

Great prices, but it takes longer (sometimes pushing 10 business days) to get stuff to the US from Germany than the UK (delivery times to California are often comparable to shipping via UPS from the East Coast).

Glad Starbike matched what I posted.

So just got a Chain Reaction Cycles UK - package. Last Wed I got the DHL email saying it would arrive Friday (Oct 6). I rescheduled, got a confirmation it would arrive today (I was out of state). Then Friday I received an email it was out for delivery. they dropped it and it was here Sunday night. As today is a USPS holiday, that may have messed with their computer program (bad coding). Anyway took about 1 week.
