I expect at least one more team to preregister, and if UHC flies in on time, you can add them, too. They're in Boston on Saturday.

Tuesday Night Worlds - done this ride about 100 times and have been content with my performance exactly 0 times. I'm about 20 watts short of where I need to be which prolly isn't going to happen this year (the ride is seasonal). My V02 / 1m Power is terrible; I just cant hang on multiple short minute climbs with kids that weigh marginally more than an ipod. More like V02 Lax amirite?

I should prolly be happy that I'm hitting PR's in 5m to 20m power weekly but it doesn't really work like that.

Again, not super upset, as we weren't exactly drilling it, as we knew we had a decent gap between us and the two leaders (both U23 WC racers) and the guys behind us, but still.

Fourth in the STXC after I came unclipped from my pedal not once, not twice, but three times. Same exact spot on the course. Last turn, going from singletrack onto a gravel road. The second time I hit my shin on the pedal hard enough to cut myself to the bone. We'd worked some team tactics pretty well up to the last couple of laps, and I was feeling good enough to try to attack the two WC racers in an attempt to soften them up for a counter/sprint by my teammates, but after that, I couldn't produce much power. The last/third time was on the last turn, heading into the sprint, while passing my teammate. Recovered and almost got another guy on the line, but the line came up too fast.

Used H2O2 contact solution to clean out the wound, found some steri strips, and lashed myself together. Also cranked up the tension on my pedals. No second XC race, as another hit to my leg would have required a hospital visit.
Thanks for the update/reply. That was quite a day!!

~2.5 hours on the fixed gear this morning. not being able to coast on that long of a ride takes some getting used to.

Already hitting the part of the cyclocross season where sustained training is no longer really possible. HR mostly in the high 170s at CX practice this AM, which means fatigue is setting in. Two days to get one last little bit of endurance riding in and rest for the weekend's races and then it's full-on race mode for two weeks. Six races in 12 days. Then a weekend off, except I might be running a 5k, like an animal. Then a slightly less insane race schedule for the rest of my season.

been hitting up the rollers this week. so efficient - in the time it takes me to get thru all the stop lights I'm done with the workout.

next season I might be like gsteinb and exclusively do intervals.

Fat Boy Intervals. And I noticed that I felt "cool" this morning, which is a very surprising feeling for Florida in mid-September. Definitely not going to complain about clouds and a temperature of 75 to start a ride.

I wanna get some rollers.

Are rollers bttr than the trainer? I was pretty time-limited with life stuff a few years ago and did all my weekday training on the trainer b4 work, god that was awful.

I love my Kreitler rollers with my do it yourself ($20 magnet) resistance. I live where I can train outside all year but I prefer short intervals on the rollers. The rollers feel so much more natural and the resistance is plenty (no sprinting). I only keep my trainer in case I get injured.

It's incredible how fast the fitness evaporates. Less than 3 weeks ago I was contesting the finish of an NCC crit. Today I was struggling to maintain low Z4 on my local 12 minute climb.

On the plus side, I got a downhill KOM. On the minus side, that's equivalent to announcing on social media that I'm fat.

Thanks for the tip - I think I will look into this.

Fortunately for me I have Fiesta Island (~4mi infinite loop, one-way traffic) nearby so I can do a lot of my intervals there, but I like the idea of rollers for increased safety and convenience. I may choose to use the rollers for certain workouts.

I've had one easy ride in the past ten days after returning from vacation. Tonight is the last hammer fest of the year, my allergies are acting up, and I'm fresh out of inhalers. Gonna be a flogging. There is the after party, though, where pain disappears.

I have kreitlers as well, so far so good. Definitely requires more concentration than a trainer, but feels way more natural.

But can't go much above 500w before I'm swerving around so much I'm about to ride off..

Fwiw I have the "hot dog" (skinny) version of the rollers (2.5" drums), they are only 10", as opposed to the 15" normal ones.

They seemed REALLY skinny at first, but I've gotten used to them, and like the smaller size for extra portability.

I've only ridden off once; before I knew it I was still clipped in but not on the rollers anymore. Luckily next to a wall so I didn't fall.

Also I ordered the frame ("kompact" version) separate from the drums (2.5" hotdog style) to get the combo I wanted.

If nothing else they make you feel super pro when warming up at a race.

Anyone know if the kreitler accessories (fan or flywheel) are compatible with non-kreiler rollers (e.g., nashbar or performance)?

Its badass when you see some dude warming up at a race, and they bunny hop off the rollers and ride to the start line...its like why race? You just earned your pro card.
