This is easy.. Get two MREs and parse them out. You don't need two tabasco sauces. and I'm sure there are ones with plenty of calories. They come with a packet where you pour the water in and it heats up if that's what you fancy.

What about some hard boiled eggs, wheat bread, and a bag of fruit or veggies. Almonds are a good quick afternoon snack also.

I have an evaporator to dry fruit out at home.
At work I have a can of powdered TANG.
I also keep a case of Hawaian punch.
Store it out of the way at work.
Sometimes I wipe the year old dust off a bottle and it tastes the same
hot or cold. I like it.

some nice ideas here so far...

let me ask a quesiton but first let me sate that I live in Hungary, here in East Europe, where I have lived all my adult life, before the fall of communism, etc, there are far less WORRIES about fridges.

What is it that you are afraid will spoil?

Make whatever you want to eat/carry in your pocket it will NOT spoil be 11 am or 3 pm!!!!!!

Trust me, I just mad ea pot of Chili on SUNDAY, I had it in the fridge and on Tuesday took a jar of it for lunch, there was cheese in it since I planned on nuking it at work. I left it in my bag, not in the fridge, just at room temp until about 1 pm, then the microwave was being used, colleagues lined up... I just ate it cold. did not taste as good but it was not spoiled.

I have taken cheese and salamies and other smoked/cured meats on 10 beach vacations where we camped no fridge etc. I ate those things even on day 10, no worries!!!

When I left the USA just after high school and got here and saw how many ppl were eating things that were not frozen or in the fridge I realized that us Americans are a bit anal bout this stuff.....

so, jst make what you want... and eat it when you want...

hard boiled eggs BTW are big time food in this part of the world for they will keep for days in summer, without a fridge as will all cured meats!!!!
Salads? make em at home, put in a small container eat at work..... empenadas... these puppies are great anytime.....

I'm glad someone started a thread like this. My wife has been buying those Complete Meals by Hormel (I think). They are tasty/filling, but the sodium is through the roof!! I can't take any perishables b/c it's roughly 6 hours before I make it to work. Eating out is problematic and getting pricey.

That stuff isn't food. It's not grown, it's mined or fabricated.

You can try freezing whatever you want to bring and it should thaw by the time lunch comes.

I've never tried this but it seems like it should work.

Maybe.

foks, there is no reason to freeze, no sandwich, no cooked food, will spoil between morning and lunch... raw meat and ra fish, MIGHT but I have used these fater they have been sitting on the counter for hours with no problems.

Just make wahtever you wan tto eat, stick it in a baggie and take it with you. there is nothing to worry about.

Burritos are great, empenadas are great, pizza rocks, pancakes are fine too. Crepes, just as good cold as warm....

Correct.
ESPECIALLY with the amount of preservatives and other chemicals we pump in to our food supply here in the good old USA.

I had not even thought of preservatives... that just means you can keep stuff in your pocket even longer before you eat it.

all natural meat and breads and cheeses will keep just fine for a day without the ridge.. I am serious.

Pasta freshly cooked in the morning, though you would have to insulate it with foil or something. It will stay warm until 1130am when I cook it at 630am. Just drain the water, and don't rinse. If you are lucky, Target has lunch bags that have a removable bottom and are quite small - I think it would fit in your jersey pocket.

For the late lunch, PB&J.

I use a rack and a trunk bag to carry change of clothes and lunch and I keep the work shoes at well....work. Do you have a significant other? You could go out for lunch once in a while and have an available pocket on those days.

I've heard that cooked rice can sit in a covered pot all day without spoiling. Maybe take a big bowl of rice?

I don't get it...why can't you put a rack on your bike?

Are you able to get a small table top toaster oven at your work?
