Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Under your bibs

Do you wear anything, I have tried a few times but can't seem to get past not wearing something under my bibs.

No.

Bibs are meant to be worn right next to the skin.

The only exception is for my slightly large winter longleg bibs with padding. Without a thin pair of underwear they do bad things to my private parts.

I wear my winter tights right next to my skin, too. Never had a numb penis as a result.

I think he means shirt under bib. At least that is what I do. Those straps rub my shoulders the wrong way.

If you're talking about base layers, I pretty much always wear one.

In the winter, I wear under armour's ColdGear mock turtleneck.

In the summer, it's a Craft mesh base layer.

Both go under the straps.

Nothing under the bibs other than some chamois creme for long rides.

Below the waist, i wear briefs under my bibs and shorts. Some people can other people can't. Do whatever works for you.

Above the waist, i always have a baselayer on.

I am more refering to brief's. I dont' have a problem with the straps on my bibs my shoulders don't have much feeling in them from the 4 broken collar bones.

No. Briefs are a terrible idea. Up top a base layer under the straps is the only thing I wear under my bibs.

+1.. Do you wear anything under your swim trunks when you go swimming?

Not the best choice of counter-example.

No. Anything with a chamois is designed to go against your skin.

Interesting point.

If I had to guess, I would say that the people who wear underwear under their swim trunks are the same who wear underwear under their bibs.

Somewhere along the line someone has made them scared (or ashamed) of a penis.

I've read every BF thread on this topic over the years, and no matter how hard I try to wrap my little pea brain around this concept, I simply cannot understand why anyone would do this.

You seem reasonable. would you do me the honor and help me understand why you do this?

Hell I would swim naked if it would not blind everyone, send children to the hospital due to aneurysms, and get me thrown in jail.
No underwear under my swim trunks either. Isn't that what the mesh is for? If anyone is trying hard enough to look under my shorts they deserve the pain and suffering that will result.

I wear board shorts (swim trunks sans mesh), and as such I kind of have to wear underwear while I'm swimming in them. If you have suggestions for non-cotton underwear, I'm open for suggestions.

Plus they're white and when wet, well, we know what white plus wet equals...
