Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's about the same difference in stack and reach as my move from the Domane to the Cervelo R3. The change in stack was no biggie. The change in reach was pretty much offset by the shorter reach bars.

So no, not that big of a change... unless you're already at your limits.

So, ethical dilemma: I have a meeting tomorrow, which is important because we will be reviewing raises and bonuses for staff and trying make things fair and equitable. We have split the staff up and everyone is expected to lead the review on a set of people. My ability to access the database of evaluations and reference letters etc. went bad today so I can't do the homework on my assigned people until I get IT help and that could be next week. I emailed the committee chair and he asked if I could come in and do the meeting from my office, where I would have access. There will be almost no one there, since everyone nonessential has been ordered home and the meeting will take about two hours. I would not be anywhere near patients.

I emailed back that I was on day 8 of a 2-week of isolation and monitoring period after travel to a "high risk" area. He has not replied to that. What would y'all do?

Good news is I did a group meetup on Zwift for an hour.

Bad news is those meanies rode harder than the advertised pace and droped me 40 minutes into the ride, so I did the last 20 minutes solo.

Nope, not at the limits. I just need to increase the saddle-to-bar drop a little bit so I don’t have one too many spacers under the stem.

So I am finally done with the new cables and housing on the Habanero and plan to wrap the bars tomorrow. It’s been awhile since I wrapped bars, I like to start at the bottom and do a figure 8 at hoods. But Park Tool YouTube says don’t do that and instead change direction of wrap at hoods. Does it really matter?

Hey MoAlpha I hope IT can solve the problem but if not, honesty with your supervisor is probably a good compass. Unless supervisor is a French Shower, in which case you may be screwed.

"Legal and judicial services" are essential here.

I can't see why I'd do the Park way. Careful wrapping usually means I don't even need the vanity patch behind the brifters. Reversing the wrap seems very wrong.

One thing that's much simpler on a tri bike.

I do it that way, I think it covers the brifters better.

Is there a hard deadline? Seems like the kind of thing that could wait a week, given the circumstances.

My supervisor is a great guy and I suspect he will say "stay home and don't worry about it." But good idea to ask him. He's a neurovirologist.

When I bought my Praxis cranks, they were a cool boutique brand. They make good stuff. I'm with Pirkaus and rjones. There was no way I was putting a Shimano crank on the Cinelli, and the aluminum Zayante is a stiff crank.

What bikes are they OEM? I had no idea. OEM like FSA?

I like to switch wrap direction at the hoods. The prevailing hand torque direction is usually outward on the drops and aft on the tops. If you wrap those ways your tape will tend to stay right.

Not a biggie if wrapped tightly to start with.

Probably matters more with glue-free tape.

Yup - I pretty much kept my stack of spacers the same, increasing the drop a cm.

Kestrel has had Oval cranks with Praxis rings for a while (not sure if Praxis makes the cranks for Oval or not) and I've seen them on some Specialzed bikes. Not sure who else off the top of my head. But yeah - they're out there and people pull 'em off and replace them with Shimano because XZY skimped with the non-series crankset. Used to be that you could get a new/take-off crankset for cheaper than the cost of the rings themselves, so check the 'bay when your rings need replacing.
