Help with waterbottle holder color on a pink Trek
Do I stick with the Red theme or blue or some other color for the waterbottle holders?

There is only one correct answer and that is silver. With white bar tape and saddle.

I don’t have a good enough eye to say what would work well, but I can confidently say the pink/red combination doesn’t.

A main color that bright deserves to not have other bright colors fight it for attention.
White or black or silver...something that lets the pink sing.
cb400bill 's pink Trek is hawt.
But it's your bike so do whatcha like.

Red doesn't do it for me either. No orange, either.
Blue, white, black, even, would work fine. But in this case I'd want the battle cage, saddle and bar tape to all match exactly. White would be my choice.

Water bottle color, no brainer, silver alloy on that vintage of bike, not plastic. As numerously stated, red tape does not work, neither do the red cables, with pink you basically have 3 choices, the obvious white, plus black or grey. Personally, would go with grey, just because white becomes not so white, after a few rides. Beautiful bike, love the old Trek 700s.

I like the violently clashing pink and red scheme! I'd go with red.

I don’t care for the red that much. Obviously white or black complements hot pink. But if you want to push the envelope there is always purple and neon green accents.

I first saw your pics on my phone and thought you had a 770 like the one that I used to have. Now I see it is a 170. What does the decal your top tube say?

Black bar tape and cable housing. Black or stainless steel bidon cage.
The pink and red aren’t making it.
I’m not a fan of white bar tape, a season of sunscreen, sweat, and dirty gloves and it looks terrible.
