Also experienced gnarly cramps in my quads and calves, starting almost before any climbing, and kept me seated for all the hills. Never had that before - still researching the cause.

Used my 1992 Gazelle 753, with Campagnolo Chorus 8 speed, except a Centaur compact crank. My pre-race check failed to find the loose stem bolt that send the handle bars a-flying on the first climb! Thankfully it didn't happen earlier during the fast paced mostly flat peleton ride up the river road. Here the speeds was rarely below 24mph and I was buried deep in the bunch. Not a place to loose steering..

Nobody else in the first 100 rode steel. Besides that there were maybe a couple.
Nice stuff Jan!!!

I rode my favorite loop yesterday, around 70 miles with 7,000 ft climbing, through redwood forests down to the ocean and back. I took my '74 Masi instead of my usual modern bike, rode it at a leisurely pace and snapped some pictures:

I just returned from a trip to the holy land: Moab, UT

It was a much shorter trip than I made last year, kicking off with pure mayhem in regards to the United/Continental merger. I got in late Saturday night with no riding clothes or gear due to some of the incompetence!

After finding that my bag never made it past Denver, I arranged to have it delivered and rode the first day in street clothes and flat pedals. Ugh. Anyhow, it was a great time regardless!

Here are a few pictures of the hooligans I went riding with!

A rare picture of yours truly:

A short 15 miler while my son napped. Of course as soon as I got everyone situated and went out to the garage to get a bike, it started to rain. Whatever, Lotus it was then. I'd planned to hit Sears Hardware on the way home and pick up some Deck Bleach for an acid bath anyway.
Threw a rain jacket with a hood into the basket in case it got really bad.

first must ride over the bridge into town

leaving town (<Postal Service>this place is a prison... </Postal Service>). It's not really a prison but it looks like one.

stop to make a quick adjustment on the new to me brooks

my well used cockpit. this bike has always been function over form.

within a mile of town its trees, farms, creeks, and beauty

Where's Wilbur? This is why I don't live in downtown Philly anymore. Though this is only 25 miles away..

I unexpectedly found myself down here in Palm Harbor, FL for the next few days. I dusted my old '95 Phillips off, pumped up the tires, and away we went!

I rode Tampa Road over to the Pinellas Trail and went north to Wall Springs Park. The sunrise was nice from the observation tower Here's what I saw this morning:

And, I love taking pictures of graffiti, so here's a couple of those as well:

This one really surprised me: George Washington. What the....

I landed in the US on Thursday morning shortly after midnite. On Friday morning, I scored a 23" '87 Prelude in Ice Pink at a yard sale. Air in the tires and a 20 mile test ride last evening. This afternoon I took it out for a 44 mile ride, following yellow arrows on the roads. Lovely ride. I'm in love yet again.

no pics but...took a "pre sierra century ride" with the sacramento wheelman. this course is terrible!!! pot holes every 50 feet....flat, desolate, alot of riding around Lincoln. I know it gets better later but... In the greatest bike riding area around in the sierra nevada area...i dont know why or whom chose this route. its like some of the worst roads they could have picked. Any way, i was pissed off because i had alot of choices for rides on a saturday and i chose a real loser

Went on a 50 mile MS Charity ride with my 13 year old. Not wanting to look like a rookie, he wrapped himself in one of last year jersey's and we were off!

Taking a break and an opportunity to pose for a photo with our re-worked Schwinn Twinn

A Bicycle Tour wouldn't be complete without a meal and proper hydration with a few friends.

Thank you for the kind words

Here are a few parting shots I got at sunrise yesterday, before I left FL to come back to NY. The ride out to Honeymoon Island on the Dunedin Causeway gave me a spectacular sunrise to watch!

I took an evening cruise down to the Kingston waterfront and enjoyed an orange creamsicle italian ice before I went on a little ride. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Half Moon, the full size replica of the boat Henry Hudson sailed up the Hudson with in 1609, is currently docked here. It is pretty incredible!

Maiden voyage today with my wife of 25 years (just last week) on the Lejeune tandem. A swollen Missouri River behind an overlook on the Katy Trail

The Viva and I have been busy getting to know one another, since The Raleigh is out of commission until I sort out the rear brake. The latest rideblog entry tells all about our adventures with... well, a guy known as "adventure!" And there were bunnies. And mountains. And trains.

A few days before we did a great ride on the Cedar River Trail in the sunshine. But first, we passed this old beauty:

And a few days before that, we battled slugs on the Soos Creek Trail, which is exceptionally pretty for an urban trail:

Come see more, and read funny stuff on rideblog. See my sig for address. My latest post is comment-less! Come change that!

I must say, all this bike blogging has really improved my photography skills. Bikes generally hold still and never have bad hair days. And my new camera rocks the casbah, so that helps.

Yesterday, my old Brit bike group did a ride around New London, CT, which was also the day for the British by the Sea Auto Show at Ft. Trumbull State Park, so we had a meeting of the machines:

Here I mix technologies and check my phone before the ride. I'm next to my '49 Raleigh Clubman:

Two Raleigh Clubmen: my '49 and Scott and his restored '51:

My favorite car: a mini-Cooper wagon:

Group shot--bikes from left to right are a Flying Scot, Raleigh Clubman, Raleigh Record Ace, MacLeans, and Raleigh Clubman:
