Registration is $105, but there's of course a convenience fee, so I think it ends up being $113. Regular registrations sell out within 2-3 days, after which VIP and charity group registrations are your only option.
Bike New York members get to sign up a week earlier.

$105??? Jeez, that's a lot of money. I used to do it with my kids, but now that's a very expensive day. They're all adults now so they can pay for it themselves if they want to do it (they won't).

40 miles Five Boro, US$113. 26 miles NYC Marathon. US$255(US$355 if you live out of US).
Where does the money go? BikeNY offers free classes; learn to ride(kids & adults), safety courses, etc.
Have been volunteering with Bike NY and for the Five Boro Bike Tour for years; always a lot of fun.

I've been reading the congestion is really bad on the day of the ride, especially near the end where you might have to wait hours at SI for the ferry. And in many parts of the ride you have to walk your bike because it's too crowded. Is this true? Can anyone chime in on past rides? I was excited to sign up the day of but now I haven't because of this info.

The start of the ride is slow going for a little ways, then picks up, but then slows or stops by Central Park. The only other place with congestion is getting onto the 59th St bridge because of the uphill on a narrow roadway. And yes, the wait for the ferry can be long. It is otherwise a fun ride. I didn't sign up though because of the price.

There is a good bar on SI right before you get on the ferry, you'll know it when you see it. stop in and relax a while if the line is long waiting to get on the ferry.

If you going for the experience do it, but start and end your day in Staten Island. If you are going because you want to ride 42 miles and be done, think again. This is a long slog. Also unless they changed the rules, entry packet to be picked up the day before. A non starter for me. Especially if you are out of State and not staying in the city.

Yes folks, you pay $113 dollars to see Manhattan. Actually, you can do the entire Manhattan, Bronx and Staten Island portion without paying a dime!
Ride safe and remember to watch out for falling water bottles especially on the highway section!

Does anyone else think doing packet pick-up on the Red Hook Brooklyn waterfront is going to be a PITA for most people? Not that the East River waterfront was great but having to get to a remote part of Brooklyn seems like a lot to ask, and I'm from Brooklyn and go to Red Hook frequently. A lot of people are from out of town and now have to spend an hour just to get there from midtown.

I think the whole concept of mandatory packet pickup is ridiculous. If you live in the city, or you WANT to attend the expo, that's great. But otherwise - I'll pay an extra $5 to have them mail it to me.
When I think of 30,000 people descending on Red Hook, Brooklyn to pick these up - it's ludicrous

And Red Hook has the worst public transport in the city. It just feels like a really bad idea, we'll see tomorrow.

Yeah, we are not too happy with the move to Red Hook. We come in from Central NJ, and getting to Red Hook is going to be a pain. Leaving my house in about 10 minutes, so will find out for sure. Looks like we are going to get pretty wet on Sunday as well. Oh Well, a double whammy.

The new location seems to be bad to get to by any means.

As expected, was much more of a pain in the butt than the old location. Line for the ferry to go over to Red Hook was out of the terminal all the way to the street. Decided to take Uber instead. Hopefully the Red Hook location was a one off. It all worked out for us, but still a PITA.

Although packet pick-up was a bit tougher this year, the weather held out and it was a great time yesterday. Might be the best out of the four I have participated in. Looking forward again to next year. Great time!
