I had to look it up. So 2k+ for the bike and then 39 bucks a month? Honestly, it may seem like a lot, but I have what was a retail $4500 USD bike on a 500 dollar trainer. I bought it for much less (incentives from Trek for bike shop employees) and it's not even worth like 1500 bucks now, but still. I would imagine that even if a person bought the bike and subscribed year round, it wouldn't be near the cost of your road bike+mountain/cross bike+helmet+bottles+bibs+jerseys+shoes+pedals and on and on.
And yeah, to clarify: My Dura Ace eqipped Carbon Domane sits on the trainer. It hasn't seen pavement in months. My aluminum Crockett with 105 *gasp* 10 speed does all the real miles. One of these days I'll go somewhere with real hills and free the Domane from its prison.

I have my old steel bike dedicated to the trainer, and my $500 KICKR Snap works fine so the up-front cost was really just the trainer.

Not to mention that a real bike + trainer is just a wee bit more versatile. I mean, it obviously has a place in the market at this point, there's just not much Venn overlap between road cyclists and Peloton users.

I suppose if someone LOVES spin classes at the gym and is not a cyclist (ie. does not have a bicycle), then the Peloton may be a reasonable choice. Still pricey. You could get a $100 CL bike and a budget trainer for a lot less than the Peloton bike.

Just drove (actually long-suffering spouse drove) in from NC and now have to get on the trainer to recover a little from another @LAJ style weight session. It was inflicted yesterday in a huge, fancy, suburban gym, where any random child or woman could have broken me like a twig.
I also twingled my left quadratus lumborum, injured many time before, at the end of the last set of deadlifts. It’s going to bother me whenever I stand up until April.

What always puzzled me was the heavy Peloton advertising on the TDF broadcast. What's the overlap between pro cycling fans and spin fans? Seems small.

Oh, the ride today indicates that, while my endurance hasn't suffered too much, my top end is gone, daddy, gone. I'll have to make a point of training that if I intend to be in halfway decent form when group rides roll around in the spring.

So it's time for the obligatory "So I started riding again, and I have this new physical ailment" post.
Ok, so not new, but it flared up in the last couple of weeks. I have had issues with left foot numbness most likely caused by a Morton's Neuroma between the 3rd and 4th digits. It has only ever been painful once that I can recall in the past, but it seems as I've upped the mileage, it tends to get numb pretty quick. Maybe after 30-60 minutes on the bike. It's happening with both shoes, and neither toe box feels tight. Wondering if the pads that lift behind the ball of the foot might make the difference or not.

They're drinking their own Kool Aid and don't know any better? I mean, market research is big, my wife works in the field, because companies don't always know how they're perceived by various demographics.

Don't do-eet.
My aunt and uncle moved to one of those soulless places in Delco a long time ago. A place that's named after what is used to be. Fox Woods Estates, or some crap. There are no more woods because you cut down all the trees to make the development. When you did that, the foxes all left. And if you can hit your neighbor's house with a stone thrown from your front porch, you don't live on an estate.

When I was bartending, I had a semi-regular customer that would come in for beers and to play darts with me - we were both very competitive. She also happened to be a starter and second leading scorer for the U of M basketball team (something that I learned when I saw her on the front page of the Sports section). I was infatuated with her but was convinced that I was firmly in the friend zone. Or maybe that's just what I told myself because I was dating my employer's sister at the time.

Not a good time to change your avatar now, not with all these cats lounging around here lately.
