Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had 600 downtube on my Bianchi SLX back in the early 90s. I remember it being good stuff.

I think it was my first indexed shifter. But only the rear, the front was still friction.

IOW, in terms of function and performance, there's almost nothing separating them. Vanity and weightweenie-ism will keep the Ultegra and DA selling, though.

It keeps AG at Ultegra or DA. I'm good with 105... my big concern is having full compatibility with new parts.

Can you call Japanese components "groupo"?

You wouldn't want AG to suffer the cold, impersonal feel of alloy levers every time she brakes, would you?

Hey, maybe that's another excuse justification for Ultegra - in my northern clime, 105 levers would sap too much heat from my fingers! Yeah, that's the ticket.

BTW, Campy's US website calls a collection of components a groupset.

Simple as that.

The unwashed may use metal stuff, but give me carbon fiber every day of the week.

I'm the one with Raynaud's, and that would be a better excuse if she hadn't directly said it was vanity.

No soup for you!
I go back in tomorrow for another session. I got on the upright and rode uptown and back in severe pain. Asi es la vida. Being off coffee trumps all.
