Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

fixie gearing help

I currently have 46 front and 16 back gearing and I'm going down to a 43 tooth chainring. Would that help A LOT with wheelies ? Will I feel a dramatic difference from a 46?

Do you consider 6.5% "dramatic" ?

Wait! Please!

Wheelies aren't specific to gearing but it can help.

Mostly you need to be able to pull up on the bars, lean back while pushing and feel that balance point.

Try.

I run a 46-16 and have a lot of trouble with wheelies also. Every time I take off quickly, or sprint, or start hammering up 20%+ hills I just can't keep the front wheel down.
