Drillium
I was very privileged to be able to buy a stash of Jon Williams' (Drillium Revival) drillium and millium work. Jon passed away a couple years ago very unexpectedly. His fantastic work will live on as a testament to his skill and creativity and I am proud to own some. I will be looking to install most of this on my collection bikes. I'm thinking the milled and painted NR derailleur would look great on my Gios.
I can post more detailed individual pictures if anyone is interested.

Jon did amazing work!
What I liked is that he didn't just copy the styles of the 70's, but brought his own vision and style to his work. Really impressive stuff!
I used to follow him on Flickr, and his photos are still there. Hard to say how much longer that will be true.

Some of his work was similar to what Art Stump did.
long stems there!
I like the “Mexico” cranks.
appreciate but not excited about the filed and polished seatpost. A bike I have has one like that. Done in the 70’s.
the “super record” front mechanism is an interesting assembly.
nice effort on the brake levers.
he did accurate work.

I consider myself lucky to have collaborated with Jon on numerous projects and the stuff I got from him will stay in my collection until I croak, too. I miss the guy - another good one taken much too soon

The top of the polished seatpost looks like a two-bolt model I found on a 1980ish Bertoni. Everything at the top of the post has been polished to a shine.
It's the only post I've seen like this. Was wondering if this alteration was very popular...
I moved the post to my '72 Torpado (below). Then later mounted an unaltered Record post on the Torpado, but it looked too plain in comparison. So I went back to this über polished one. For some reason to my eye, it looks right on this bike. The Bertoni now has an aero Chorus.

Some individual pictures. These are taken from Jon's Flickr site, which as someone noted, is still up. Full credit to the photographer. He took better pictures than I ever would be able to.

I think I either need a cigarette or a 20 minute nap after those pix...

I really like how Jon mostly seemed to avoid factory markings when not removing them.
Pretty hard to do when doing his thing.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's I worked at a shop that had an old milling machine with a dividing head and all the tooling. The boss figured out I had gotten good at using the thing and became the guy who sat there drilling and countersinking for hours on end. I had a Motobecane Grand Jubile that I had gone nuts on, I drilled something like 6.8 lbs off that thing.
I own that milling machine now, its been sitting in a storage trailer for about 18 years since the owner passed away. I keep telling myself I'm going to take the thing apart and haul it down my basement and make use of it again but so far I haven't found any volunteers to help carry the big castings down the steps.

I have spent 48 of my 66 years on this planet in machine shops. Thirty seven years in my own grind shop. One of my first jobs while an apprentice was running Bridgeport and Tree mills as well as Cincinnati horizontals. To see that kind of artistry is amazing. Although much easier with CNC’s it is still a challenge with work holding and programming. The man is a legend! IMHO

In the early 80's I worked weekends at a local bike shop, the owner had bought one of those table top mills from MSC.
He spent hours and ruined dozens of parts. I on the other hand seemed to get the hang of it quick and soon made up dozens of jigs and gauges to drill just about anything on that machine. They closed up and the mill got auctioned off, I wish I had gotten hold of it back then.
Its rare these days to see that type of work being done anywhere.
