Miele

Looking at a cromo badged Miele. Can't get the model but it is cromo steel, with chrome plated fork. Kicker for me is 27" wheels. Anyone have any ideas if a 700c conversion is possible. trying to research but MKT deals are insane right now. you blink and miss out.
Anything like death forks to look out for?LOL

700c wheels will work just fine. Your brake calipers might not reach and, then again, they just might. If not, you will need to seek out and install a set of calipers with a longer reach.

Thanks my friend. Would this be considered a high end desirable frame? I know it's a newby question and I'm trying to find out what tubing and group set but info is slow coming. It's right between 2 bikes I like to ride now in size and so pretty, but I don't want to blow all my bike money just because it's red.LOL

I had a red Miele Uo LS that originally had 27" wheels. It was Tange #5 tubing. Fortunately the brakes on it would work with the 700C wheels I used.

Cheers

That's what the bike looks like. Tell me about it. Is it on the level of Lemond Zurich with 853 tubing?

Not even close. But Tange 5 isn't just plain gas pipe, either, I don't think. One of our CDN experts will likely weigh in, but I'd be surprised if there were ever any Mieles built with a lower quality tube set than that.

The subject bicycle sounds like a circa 1978 Miele Uno. It used Tange #5 (plain gauge CrMo) main tubes with hi-tensile stays and forks. In 1986 it had been full hi-tensile and in 1987 was upgraded to a 700C wheelset. It was the bottom of the line sport model. A 700C conversion is possible, though you may also require longer reach calipers.

Appreciate the fast education. I am going to pass on this one. It's not the high end Italian I was hoping for.
