Question about these Easton EC90 SL clinchers
Hi,
I was thinking about picking these wheels up used for my bike with an older 10sp ultegra group. This set comes with a 10sp cassette so I know they will work now. But if I ever upgrade my bike I know there's pretty much no such thing as 10sp anymore - will this EC90 rear wheel take a 11sp shimano cassette as well? Not what year of manufacture these wheels are but they look newer dont they? They are clincher/rim brake. Thanks

AFAIK they will not take an 11sp freehub,
but if you upgrade your bike there will hardly be rim brake as well so no biggie.
Additionally, they may have a freehub that will take Shimano but not SRAM cassette.

I had a set on my Madone 4.6, The constantly went out of true and have to be fixed. On the 3rd time in a year the wheel was sent to Easton and after 4 months I got it back. They replaced all the spokes and nipples. One month later it was out of true and again sent back to Easton.
In the meantime i purchased a new bike and put a set of Zipp 303s on.
I sold the Madone with the original wheels and sold the Eastons seperately.
BTW.. 26,000 miles on the Zipps and not a single problem.

I can’t directly answer the question but I suspect Easton makes an 11 speed cassette body you can swap out. Check with them.
Also, there should be ample 10s components (especially wear items like chains and cassettes) indefinitely available, even if you have to seek out NOS items on EBay etc., so factor that in. I run 10s on all my bikes and for cross-compatibility reasons will not likely go 11s ever. Next upgrade, if it happens, will be in a few years and will be 12s for sure or maybe even lucky 13.

I have a set of those (tubular), a set of EA70s, and had a set of EC90s that the rims wore out.
They've all stayed true, but the older ones have a side-play adjustment nut that doesn't keep it's position. An updated part is available from Easton.

Odd because i've been looking for a Sram Red or Force compact crank for my son's Madone 6.2. He no longer races adn the standard chainrings are just not needed.
