Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So, when do you cross over from Bill Cosby sweaters to team jerseys? Is that when you go from Cat 3 to Cat 2?

Rallying...those are some real drivers in real cars.

You want to see something more redneck than NASCAR? Go to some Midwest sprint car race.

I will admit that NASCAR is one of my guilty pleasures. I know that the cars are nowhere near the technical marvels that F1 cars are and that the specialized skill of an F1 driver is awesome, but NASCAR just resonates with a lot of the American public, including me.
I'm a New Yorker born and raised who moved to CA 16 years ago. I like to watch NFL Football, cycling, triathlons, NBA Basketball and Formula One. Nascar bores the hell out of me. An auto race where 50 year old guys can remain competetive and loud mouth no talent blowhards like Robby Gordon can get a drive just don't do anything for me.

You don't see any 50 year old drivers in F1 because they can't compete at that level much past their mid 30s. Michael Schumacher is what 36 years old now? He's probably the second oldest driver in F1 right now (I think Rubens Barrichello might be older or just about the same age) and will probably retire in the next year or so.

Know what the number one sporting event in the world is (for viewership)? Soccer.

Number two is Formula One.

No offense to you Olebiker. This was more directed at the person who blasted the Paris-Roubaix.

I do like the WRC though as well. Go Subaru!

It is of course impossible to quantify idiocy on this level in human terms. The Euro reference does put it in some perspective of course. And they think it's Americans who are arrogant? If this gets any more ironic it might kill us all.

On the other hand, without Euro to give us a target for our disdain, what the hell would we do? Our JOBS?

Screw that action.

I own two a 381 and a 481 and they are great bikes. I've owned enough high end bikes to know what I like. I've also spent 3 hours on a Giant, ONCE replica and honestly I found it to be pretty dead.

Curling is about to make a HUGE comeback worldwide during the next Olympics!

https://www.olympic.org/uk/sports/pro...p?SportCode=CU

Why is everyone getting so bent out of shape over a "blow-off" thread. Now all of you, including Euro, calm down before I turn this car around and make you hang out in Swadetki Georgia with the locals to watch a Tractor Pull!

That was all kinda tongue-in-cheek, but now that I think about it, when was the last time you saw some honey in a tube top and Daisy Dukes at Paris-Roubaix?

A Trek or Giant is faster and will not break, so a racer would buy one of those, but the person who buys the Look thinks they are getting prestige, and because it looks better (no pun intended)
