Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I didn't see many cyclists out there today. The weather must have kept many of them on their trainers as this was the coldest daytime riding temp I've ridden in so far this year, at least in the city. Yep, we're wimps when it comes to cool temps....
Since I live close to Griffith Park, I did my usual 25 mile loop, taking me up through the park and back the other side. I came across only ONE other cyclist today at the top, where we gave each the 'look'...
Here are two photos from this afternoon...

The San Fernando Valley side of the climb...

The Los Angeles side of the descent...

Hmm, your secret hill training on a road bike is no longer a secret. Nice pics... feeling ready for pie?

You didnt bring any water because it would turn to ice!

Great pics, wish I had time during the week to ride. I work in Burbank and could probably make out the building below in the first pic.... just jealous and wish I could be riding instead of working.

Great pix. It was nice today, though a bit chilly. I work in the west valley, out of the shot to the left. I will probably do my 16 mile loop tomorrow during my lunch hour, going around Valley Circle et al. You didn't have to work today?

I've been riding outdoors 3 days a week and indoors 3 days.
It has rained almost 15 inches in the past month.
But at least there's no snow!

These pics remind me of some sort of runaway commercial where the girl/bike runs away from it's parents/owner.

"Dear dad. I like it out here in Los Angeles. Some guy I met has been very nice. He says he can get me into movies, so we get together and take pictures often. He says my bare Titanium is so beautiful, that it could really help me go places..."

haha. nice pics. when we have a winter day in the 60s with sunlight it's like someone opened the floodgates. cyclists, runners, dog walkers and stoller pushers are everywhere.

get out of the city while you're here and do highway 39/east fork/glendora mountain/mt. baldy.

i know this means nothing to you as of this point, but if you remember to find out about this route closer to your arrival, you won't regret it.

That's definitely on my to-do list. Mt. Baldy from Claremont is great, but I need to find some variety.

It was a beautiful sunny 60 degree day here in Colorado earlier this week. My buddies and I took the opportunity to get in a ride in this warm weather. It was a bit breezy, though -- 30 mph winds gusting to 45. Nonetheless it was nice getting a ride in without having to bundle up.

Ah yes, La La Land, where the women are as plastic as their credit cards.

Another classic from the Lakers last night where Raper Boy scores 51 points and they still lose to the mediocre to Sac-Town Queens!

What Sarthe? I have a new CR1.

You're from San Diego and you're not enjoying ribbing an Angelino?
