I don't know anything about the brand but that's a good looking frame.

It sure is pretty! I suspect that is going to a rather odd duck to get a good value. I'd search ebay completed listing for similar quality 531 frames, and add a little since it is so pretty and unique.

It was hard enough finding a frame like this for sale and even more in my size.

EBay doesnt show any sold listing for this frame. Only listing ive found is in the UK for a complete build and its going for $1K + post.

Just search for similar quality/maker 531 frames. Maybe Batavus, Peugeot, Raleigh etc then add a few bucks.

Is that NOS? Respray? or something that was built and on display then tore apart?

Are these standard sized tubes or oversized? Most 531 frames are standard but Reynolds made OS tubing available in later years. If OS then I think the frame will hold a value edge vs. a run of the mill 531 frame. Also, this seems to be a team replica frame so that will boost value a little too. At the end of the day a bike/frame is worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

@Nessism A few variations of this frameset were made available including a Lo Pro (funny bendy bike) and OS in a green colors as with bladed forks.
@Bianchigirll Makes sense to compare to other 531 tubed brands but im also taking into factor of demand. Some brands are more desired than others.

So yes I guess it does come down to what im willing to pay.

Seller this morning mesaged me with an asking price. Ive seen maybe a half dozen frames with asking prices of $250-$350 in near identical condition. Seller is asking nearly double for this frameset.

I have a max price in mind but ill have to make the offer and see if he'll budge.

I think the price range you mentioned is HIGH. In the end, its a very attractive frame (to some), but its just Reynolds 531. Seller is asking higher price than I see 753 frame sets going for. If you buy it, you are going to overpay. If it is exactly what you want, that is not the end of the world. I've willingly overpaid for stuff without regrets. But not very often!

And realize what you have seen were "asking prices". Many asking prices are higher than market value. So double asking prices is really pushing it.

TVM used Gazelle frames in the mid to late 1990s. Based on the presence of a pump peg, it would appear to be a team replica frame, as opposed to an actual team frame. Also, by this time, team frames would be more exotic than Reynolds 531, which would have been considered plain vanilla tubing. Given the pristine condition, I'd be willing to pay $300-$350.

@wrk101 @T-Mar

I agree with both of you on asking price for this frameset it's a 531 tubing and asking price is way too much.

$300 was my max for this.

I havent replied to the seller yet but soon as I get the courage to send the offer I'll update here

Paid 150 euro for one of these last year with a Chorus headset and bottom bracket included.
(Removed both and traded the frameset for a Champion Mondial AA-frame)

Gazelle is a part of the TI Reynolds Group of companies, so of course its made of 531 tube.. Price value? same as any other 531 race bike frame in similar condition...

The seller has obviously been looking at ebay prices. Gazelles have been sold there at what we Dutch would consider ridiculous prices. Mostly to German buyers, I believe. Germans pay top dollar for quality, like Japanese do for French stuff and Americans for famous names. (I am generalizing a bit here )

But from a seller's point of view this is a German market frame.

This frame seems to be a repainted frame as the stickers do not match. on the down tube you have big letters only and on the top tube you have small letters. So somebody made a mistake when he restored the frame. But it is still a beautiful frame. Which was produced mainly for the european market. That is why the colours match the colours of the dutch, belgian, french and german flags. And Luxembourg of course. And GB. And Spain.

The decals do match Google image searches and ive seen 2 different sets of decals for this frameset. Not including the time trial frames.

On the first picture (in the post by malcala622) you see that all Letters are written as capital letters. On the second picture you see that only the first letter of Gazelle is a capital letter. This is the läter version. All letters written as capital letters are on frames of 1992, 1993. And then there was a change to the second version. I hope you understand what I mean. You will not find another frame where the decal on the top tube is second version writing, and down tube or seat tube is first version.

I see what you're saying now. I understood the downtube compared to the top tube. Good eyes.

Either way i didnt purchase the frameset. Too rich for my blood on a 531

Hi there,

I am reopening this post in hope of finding some help.
I have found online a Gazelle TVM road bike that I would like to buy.
The only info I have found about this bike is in this vey forum !
This bike looks is kind of strange :
The Gazelle sticker on the seat tube is upside down, and it's only written "Bison - Gazelle" on the top tube.
Also there is no Reynolds stickers, which makes me wonder if it's really 531.
Apart from that the fork seems to have been changed.
What do you think about it ? I was going to post a picture but I cannot do it cause I am too fresh on the forum.

It looks like a Reynolds 500 tubing.
