Miyata Two Ten Value Question

This sharp looking bike came up on Facebook. Seller is asking $450 but I don't know much about old components. Comes with a brooks saddle or without for $400. I know that's a good saddle. What is a fair offer?

The bike pictured above is a Miyata, not a Raleigh.

There are a LOT of bikes for sale in the $300-400 range, at least where I live. The Miyata 210 was a lower-tier bike in its day and while it's a solid ride, you can probably do better.

Yes it's a Miyata. I was looking at a Raleigh too when I typed. Weird. Anyway thanks. Anyone have an idea of a fair offer? $200? $250? Or just pass?

The 210 is a solid entry-level tourer and got better throughout the 80's with tubing and component upgrades. This one is on the earlier side of things and pre-pandemic would have brought around $250 or so. Bottom is falling out value-wise on these low to mid models and may be more in the $150 range now. That's probably too far for the seller to come down until it sits for awhile. Should be better options for you out there if you don't feel like waiting.

I have owned a Miyata 210 and a few others, including a Miyata 1000 or two. That said, even though the 210 was/is and entry level bike it is one heck of a nice entry level bike. Good stopping ability and performance. Solid shifting with a wide gear range. And, like most Miyata bicycles, of its day, sports a very well made frame/fork set. All in all, a bike worth a buck or two.

I am unfamiliar with the vintage market strength in your area. If strong, the Miyata might not last long at the asking price. Where I live, it would be difficult to get $200 CND. Anyway, dicker a bit and you just might bring home a worth road bike.

Don't believe that is an actual Brooks saddle, looks like a current imported knock-off. That given, from the color and graphics this ilooks to be a 1983 model that originally came with an Ariake padded saddle. Would offer $200-250 at most, for bike without that aftermarket saddle.

He says he bought it directly from Brooks when he worked at a cycle shop. I offered $250 and he refused. Oh well. I'll give it a few

IMO, your $250 offer was very generous. The better 210 model came later, with cantilever brakes.

When it comes to delusional sellers, I just move on. Such sellers have an inflated view on value, and not going to come down to a realistic price.

I do not think the Chattanooga market is very strong.

It depends on how new the tires, grips, brake pads, chain, etc. etc. etc. are. If it's got all new parts then, $350 - $400 is reasonable. If not, then you can get a very nice brand new bike with all new stuff delivered free to your home for about $450. Check it out.............
