Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

TV star turned bike racer

I guess there are worse hobbies that he could have. I never thought very much of his acting; maybe I'll pay more attention now.

Personally, I would rather have a real bike racer in the LA movie. Having a chain smoker (Damon) play an anti-cancer activist is kind of like having an EPO manufacturer sponsor a pro bike race

On the other hand, I really don't see the point to a LA movie. There are lots of real life documentaries and interviews already available. What could a docudrama possibly add to the story?

Pickup lines for Lance since the break up.

hey babee, wanna touch my scar?

You know the Lancerbation will suck, because it can't be about cycling, no one cares about cycling.

C'mon guys. He's a bike racer. A cyclist. That's pretty cool. Sure he was on a terrible show, and before that he was on 'Saved by the Bell', but let's cut him some slack. He could be part of an amateur bass fishing team.

Ha! Classic.

"Hey, hey, hey... what is going on here?" - Mr. Belding in every episode ever.

Pretty cool that Mark-Paul is down with PEZ. His CSC / NYPD Blue analogy in the interview was a fair indicator that he's into cycling beyond just wanting a piece of the LA movie.

I wouldn't say "torrid." It was a lukewarm affair at best.

I thought that was Richard Gere. No, wait, that was a gerbil.

Pics on PEZ site show that M-P has left some skin on the pavement. Gotta love that.

I thought he did an okay job replacing Ricky Schroder (anyone remember Silver Spoons) on NYPD Blue.

He seems like a cool guy to me. And this quote is right on target:

We’ve got our attitude. And as much as we’d like to see cycling get bigger, we like that it’s small, and that we’re sort of the ‘outcasts’ on the road, and when someone says we look gay in our lycra, we sort of get a chuckle out of that.

Sorry if this sounds too jaded to you, but the motivating factor in making movies is almost always financial. Lance has a window of marketability that won't stay wide open forever.

Oh my god.

Zack Morris rides a fixed. I am now in awe of his awesomeness.

I can't believe no one has posted this in here yet.

Once, while volunteering at an AIDS camp in MN, I spotted MPG as he bouldered on the camp's climbing wall. Why was he there? Because he was donating the $500,000 he won in a celebrity Daytona 500 (the videogame) competition.

A man of many talents.
