Shave now.
Really. Kick off the new year by giving this shaving for cyclists business a try whilst you can wear pants for several months if it's not for you. It's really harmless. How high is entirely your business.
As to why, make up whatever damn reason(s) float your boat. None of us really believes most of 'em anyway.
Perhaps this will spare us the annual soaring crescendo of shaving threads. Wishful thinking, to be sure.

nah... i wait until it's time to expose my legs to the elements.
seeing as i live in the developed world, that means sometime in march (with plenty of embrocation on top).

....never stop, just shave 'em less frequently in the off season. Hair on legs now just feel to strange to me to let it grow through winter.

I'll wait until spring. Right now my legs are wearing their winter coats.

I've tried to save. There's a bit of money in some CDs, a bit more in mutual funds, and the majority is...
Oh wait, I though this was about saving.
Where is the financial forum?

I agree. At least do it once before criticizing it. Now is the perfect time.

I'm so astonishingly bored right now (family is all in North Carolina except me, friends are all with their families), I'm going to do it. Right now. I'll report back in about 20 minutes.

Ok, I did it. I just shaved my legs, for the first time.
I am new to cycling (I got my first bike a little over a month ago). I had not ridden a bicycle since I was probably around 6-10 years old. In that ~1.5 month period, I have put on over 600 miles. I love riding more than I can even express. I did my first group ride last week, and I accidentally showed up to the “spirited ride.” It took everything I had, but I didn't get dropped. It was one of the most painful things I've ever done; I don't think we ever went below 20. After that ride, I decided that there is nothing I'd rather do than ride hard, preferably in a group.
Even though the shaving was prompted by this thread, and the other recent threads, I did it more as a symbol of my commitment to the sport, as a reminder that I should be out riding instead of sitting on my ass.
It feels pretty weird! The undersides of my thighs itch, and my legs are FREEZING. Even when I walk outside, I can feel the wind blowing through my pants, and my legs feel cold as hell. Though, I gotta say, it looks pretty awesome. Haha

I had to shave last week ... I decided to wear a skirt to work.
BTW - for you inexperienced men ... shave in the shower if at all possible, and coat your legs in hair conditioner before you do. Then rinse any remaining conditioner off when you're done. Your skin will be soft, and there will be no itching.

Hey, if I shave, people might think I'm a racer or something.

ahhhhhhh Winter time on the BF! Shaving threads. What bike should I buy. I missed you guys!
(GF loves the shaved legs, however now in winter, she complains if they aren't freshly shorn!)

The fact that it coincidentally marks me as one of the "cool guys" in the cycle club is just gravy.
